What applicator pads do you all use for waxing?

Just wondering what is out there right now for waxing pads which work well, last a while, and minimizes any scratching etc etc etc.

Thanks!

... application by hand or machine?

By hand, I use the yellow foam applicators that CMA provides with theie waxes. Not a fan of application of final wax by machine.

Meguiar's yellow foam pads at Wal*Mart. 2 for $1.67.

Viking with the foam "doorknob" handle at AutoZone. Around $2 ea.

The Viking doesn't seem to work any better, it's just easier to hang on to.

I don't think hand waxing pads are too critical, as long as you use foam. Apparently even the cheapies at Pepboys (or some place like that) are okay too.

Paint Cleanser ( P21S GEPC) - foam pad

Sealant ( BFII) - microfiber applicator

Wax ( P21S) - supplied foam pad

QD paste ( PowerShine ) - microfiber applicator

Sealant / QD paste on clearcoated wheels - cotton applicator

Which is more preferred then, a foam pad for hand waxing or a cloth pad for hand waxing, or does it not matter? Wasn't sure if there was anything new out there ya'll are using, like special foam pads or special cloth pads of the sort to minimize hairlines etc.

For hand polishing, I like the white wax applicators (foam) from Griots. They're nice and large and allow for more even pressure because you're pressing with the palm of your hand and not your four fingers.

The safest pads I find are either foam or microfiber. That is why I only use cotton applicators on my clearcoated ( thicker clearcoat depth than car's finish). :wavey
