Wax Streaking Problems..

Ok, so on the last couple black cars I have done, after waxing I have noticed its leaving some kind of residue or something behind and streaking. It almost looks like swirls or hologramming. I know for a fact it is not either though as I can sort of move it around with a microfiber but the microfiber wont pick it up! What am I to do?!?

Just to make things clear, I know it is the wax because..

1.I have inspected the paint over and over and over in the sun with perfect results, and after several hours in direct sunlight, still no defects.

2. I tried applying the wax by hand to remove the possibility of the applicator doing the deed, let it set for a minute, then wipe off as normal with a nice Cobra MF. I am using Lusso Oro BTW, and it is getting to the bottom of the tub if that matters..

3. If I move the towel back and forth the streaking, holograms move to which ever way I run the MF across the panel, either up-down or left-right.

4. Its really making me upset, bc I cant seem to remove it very easily even after washing and it makes the vehicle look like it has holograms but I know for a fact it doesnt.

PLEASE HELP!

I used Menzerna polishes, Menzerna Top Inspection. I havent began to use IPA but Im thinking Im gonna go to the store today and grab some. Thanks for some suggestions guys, Ill try using less wax even though Im pretty sure I put a prety then layer down already..Ill use some QD on it also and see if that helps any..

Very simple.

Just spray/spritz lots of ice-cold water onto the panel and buff immediately.

Keep spraying and buffing, using lots of MFs until its clear.

Encountered this problem before with Megs 26 and certain types of Soft99 hard waxes, in a hot humid climate. Megs Final Inspection did not solve the problem. Washing with spoo cleared the problem.

One of the reasons for your problem is, there's overloading of oils on the paint surface. Menzerna is already oily, and coupled to your fav wax which is very oily = disaster! 15years ago, Eagle One mentioned this problem in their detailing booklet.

If you switch to Swissvax Onyx, I guarantee you won't hv this problem as I use Onyx a lot and its 100% problem-free.

^ i agree. i love lusso oro myself, but i've found out a couple things.

1. like many nicer nuba's, it is ment to be put on as thin and even as possible. don't over do it with this stuff or you'll leave yourself a mess.

2. don't let it sit too long. i only do two panels at a time with lusso oro. collinite users have this same problem - let it sit too long and u'll be dealing with concrete.

3. you have to know lusso's removale point. something i had to learn myself. wipe away too early and the wax doesn't settle correctly and you'll leave lots of residue. remove too late and you're dealing with "concrete". once u find that balance point (why i normally only do about two panels at a time) it's all good to go.

4. make sure u flip/change out your microfiber towels fairly often.

hope this helps and happy waxing!

Here is a tip that I found at the Proper Auto Care website:

"A spray bottle with distilled water and 1/2 teaspoon of Isopropyl alcohol is a great solution for removing problem streaks and cloudy patches."

I have never tried it before and do not know if it is effective or helpful or what.

Being out in full sun may be affecting it also...the water seemed to help a bit but its still streaking..

Next time apply wax with the pc (if you have one) and a white pad on speed 5. Makes life so much easier when wiping.

PS: on this paint go over it with a clean finishing pad and speed 6 with the pc to clean up the streaking.

I know that is very little IPA, but could that remove some of the protection????

I Would Make Sure You Wipe Down Your Polish, Seems To Me The Oil In Your Polish Is Making The Wax Streak This Is A Perfect Example Of Why We Need Rubbing Alcohol!

+1 to what martind said, an IPA wipe down is in order here. He is waxing over the oils left behind by the polishes. Failing to do an IPA wipe down after polishing and waxing over the oils will cause this streaking.

It wont matter if its removing protection or not, he just finished polishing, and is now waxing.

IPA wipe down = success.

I (and several others) have come across this same problem. It almost seems like the wax, no matter how much you buff it and get it looking good, still "sweats" out an oily film. I never tried the cold water spritz, but people recommended Zymol Field Glaze. I drastically reduced the amount used, and that seems to help a little too.
