water stains on glass

Bought a 2010 Escape, it appeared to never have been detailed by its prior owner. Some of the glass and exterior mirrors have water stains on them that Invisible Glass could not remove or improve even a little. Any suggestions?

Thanks

For water spots on glass I use 0000 steel wool. This is a tad ole school for detailers but highly effective on removing WS. This is the highest / softest SW available and will NOT harm the glass in anyway.

This is another go to WS remover that I have on hand that is again highly effective.

Amaze Hard Water Stain Remover

As my friend Nick @ Autogeek would say (not to be confused with THE STIG), it's the Cat Meow.

I used it on several cars and hard water spots just disappear. Unlike some other glass polishes this one is low dusting and doesn't create too much of a mess.

Todd, will this product also remove water spots on mirrors? My side mirrors have bad spots on the corners.

It works really well here too, as long as your not dealing with water etching, then you are going to need something more aggressive.

As a follow up, I bought the Pinnacle GlassWork Water Spot Remover. On some areas of the Escape, it worked well, but others not so much. I have since had some other issues with my other cars, and while using a glass cleaner and a lot of scrubbing, I could not remove a few spots, the Pinnacle easily removed it. I also tried this on my shower doors, which can be hard to clean. The Pinnacle made them look like new, and it's easy to work with. So even though it didn't fix everything on my Escape, I'm still very impressed with this product.

I use ZEP Glass cleaner diluted 10:1 and I scrub with 0000 steel wool. This tends to work.

If they are really stubbord I use Meguiars's UC with a wool pad on my rotary.

I really like the product, but if I'm going to improve my Escape, I'm going to need something stronger. I quickly looked and can't see any nearby sources for 00000 steel wool, but the Meguiars UC is available, so I might try that.

I've tried many things to remove water stains...razor blades etc.

I have a go-to I have used for years & it has never let me down.
I use a DA with an orange pad (not as aggressive as steel wool).
X-treme Clean has the "feel" of a very gritty polishing compound.

Rain‑X® X-treme Clean™ I prefer a small 4" or less orange pad

Not sure if it can be used on cars windows but it works phenomenal on boat windows, I like sea-shield glass polishing system. We've been getting really good results with removing hard water spots, etching and some light scratches. Look at the results we got on this hatteras with their system. we used a 6' griots with a felt pad.

You can use anything to take out stains. I've had success using scratch-remover. Windows aren't as tough as everyone makes them out to be, and diamonds aren't the only thing hard enough to make scratches!
