Darth Camaro 12/27/15
I am picking up the 2013 tomorrow (12/27/2015). So in a little more that 16 hours, THIS will be the view from my front window:

Looking at the wheels it looks to be a LS, which translates to a V6. Don't see an SS emblem on the grill either. I own a 2012 1LT, V6. Had it for over 3 years and I drive it year round. The V6 is no slouch and is very fun to drive. I ended up with black and all I can say is have fun keeping it clean. I hope you enjoy your new ride as much as I have.

Exactly right! LFX series 3.6L V-6, 323HP @ 6800 RPM, 278 FP Torque @ 4800 RPM. I could have chosen a 2014 with the upgrade rims and the rally stripe package, but I thought the stripes would draw too much attention to me by the police :o LOL. BUT it had 45K miles on it and the '13 only has 25K, so my warranty period will be longer.

I've owned 2 3rd gen Camaros, an '83 Berlinetta 5.0 auto and an '89 RS 5.0 5 spd. The V6 in this '13 blows both of them away and handles far better than either.

This will also be the third black car I've owned and while I learned a lot on my last black car, my skills have grown immensely since then (as has my maturity) and I do't see much of a problem having black (TRANSLATION: I *think* I can keep from pulling my hair out when it gets dusty 5 minutes after washing & drying it).

Thanks for the comments :D

I know that (being an Fbody megafan) but others may not have.

OP: Looks like a cool ride man! Hope you enjoy it and cant wait to see the pics of the impending detail/LSP

The other question is stick or auto? I have the auto and althought I wanted the stick I am getting to old to work while driving. I do like the paddle shift. Lets me play like it is a manual whenever I want. The numbers to me are impressive but the bad thing is the car comes in at just under 4000 lbs.

Do you have any plans on any aftermarket items? Not sure if the previous owner swapped out the mufflers but if you want to liven up the sound a bit I swapped out my muffler for Morano racing(MRT) V2.0 axleback exhaust for the V6. They sound awesome under power but still mild under regular driving. Might be as close to V8 sound you can get. Of course I had to add on a cold air intake and ported throttle body. Since we can't add headers to this engine a company called Solo makes high flow cats for it so I had a set on for a couple years. One side cracked last fall and even though they sent me a replacement I put the stock cats back on. It sure made it sound aggressive under acceleration I decided to remove them and quiet the thing back a little. I had to add the stripes as I wanted a little contrast and they look great. I may stick out like a sore thumb but no tickets since I had this car, knock on wood.

This was my first black car. When I purchased it I wasn't really looking for black And wanted blue but the blue for '12 was the Imperial blue I think it was called and it was dark. This car was closer when I was looking so I asked myself how bad can black be. It has been a fight for over 3 years to keep it clean. The last year I have kind of given up. I can't say as I would do black again but it sure does look nice when it is all cleaned up. Just wish it would last longer then backing out of the garage.

Even thouh mine is a DD i have only put about 10k on per year I have had it but I have enjoyed those miles more then my other vehicles. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.

My bad, it's a 6 speed manual. I've been told on the Camaro5 forums the first thing I need to do is the oil catch can in the PCV line, and from the looks of the pictures of all the gunk being kept out of the intake and off the valves, i't definitely 1st on my list to be followed by a CAI. But the mods will have to come slowly as I am now broke :P

I added a catch can, Elite Engineering one. If you are not going to run it hard in the upper RPM's I would suggest the CAI first. I run mine hard sometimes and it does work. Catches between a half cup maybe a little more in a 6000 mile oil change. Before I catch flack, yes 6000 miles average, I go by the oil life meter. Usually always goes off in the 5000 to 6000 mile range. I switched to Mobile1 since around here it is the same price as the synthetic blend the motor requires. This time of the year I disconnect the catch can, I live in Northern Minnesota and this time of the year it fills with water and doesn't catch much oil. I got tired of dumping ice chunks every week. JMO but I think the CAI is a better first investment.

Camaro5 forums, been there done that and left. Got tired of catching flack for my posts. I am one of those that try to help people with information from experience and what I know, not what I think I know and would get flamed off and on. Got tired of it and quit.

Don - Congratulations !!!
Beautiful Camaro, this will be so much fun !

As for keeping it clean, just someday when you get tired of maintaining the paint to remove defects, just put a coating on it and you are good !

So what's wrong with a 6k oil change? Since I drive almost exclusively highway, I've been known to go 7,500 - 10k using a full synthetic. YEARS ago, before synths became so common, car companies recommended 3k miles for severe service and 7.5k for "normal" driving conditions, so IMO, 6-10k is nothing on a highway driven car running a semi or full synth I usually use Mobil 1 too.

As for the Camaro5 Forums, I am a complete novice on the 5th gen Camaro and it's quirks, so there is a lot of info/ideas there that are helpful. Hopefully I won't have the same experience as you.

Im jealous!! The handling of those new Camaros are amazing. And the V6 for the price is all I would ever need for a daily driver. Congrats!!
