First off, I`d like to thank Autopia and staff for hosting the giveaway for product review, and to uphold my end of the promise (since I was lucky enough to be selected) here is my honest, non fluffed review.
If you don`t want to read a longish post (I`ve already shorten it by cutting out the comparison, which will just be a summary in the end), the product is great for maintenance washes, by that I mean cleaning wheels that were properly prepared from a full detail that includes some form of wheel wax or sealants. The product clings as advertised.
FULL REVIEW:
My one winter old snow wheels, it was just hosed down prior to storage, I was lazy...
Some may argue that it looks half decent and not as dirty as real winter wheels, but it`s actually not clean at all, and super filthy, look for the black dust scatter all over the wheels.
I am sure the keen eye can see that the dirt is hidden by its color, which is why I choose these wheels to begin with! Sorry about the orientation... just... cut me some slack here lol!
I sprayed down the wheel and some spots of the tires to see the run, and cling-ability... it sure does cling well...!
I let the solution dwell long enough to pool at the bottom (about 2 minutes) but look at the tires, and spokes, they are still covered and it didn`t run off and drip anywhere really.
I agitated the bottom half with a FAMOUS BRUSH!
I did this to really clean it up after it dwelling for approximately 3 minutes, I choose to agitate the bottom because it had a few pool of solution that I can take advantage...
The top half, was just a 3 minute dwell untouched...
It was getting dry by the 3rd minute, but I am sure anything else would get dry by 3 minutes too... I left the top untouch so I can test the touchless wash method of this product... sorry for the meager focus, camera phone...
Hosed down the wheel and a couple of close ups...
Ignoring the pool of water, you can see some embedded dirt still at the corners and crevices of the wheels this is the bottom and it has been agitated with a brush... finger swipe remains fairly clean, no residue visible.
The top looks uniform, but its still covered in light brake dust and dirt which I was able to easily dirty my hands when touching it. So I would deem this product not suitable for touchless... with a garden hose. I do not have a pressure washer, but if anyone wanna send or buy me one, I`d gladly redo my test
lol...
Finally I resprayed and brushed down the whole wheel, inside out, every spoke.. and it came out looking good!
and a close up...
You can`t see much dirt anymore, nor can you get any on your hands, but you can clearly feel the embedded stuff, so the wheel will need a light claying to decon before the wheel wax slatheringfest.
Comparison product summary, no pics due to laziness...
Sonax wheel cleaner looks similar with the green. I would prefer this product since it decon (purple bleeding) and cleaned the wheel well both touchless and brushed, and left a smooth surface with minimal embedded texture.
BF Wheel cleaner worked great brushed and decently touchless, it left the surface with minor embedded stuff that can be felt by the fingers.
Meguiars non acid 4:1, maybe I need to change the dilution ratio to 2:1 or 1:1... its just not in the same league at 4:1...
Comparison is just my experience and may not reflect anyone else`s experience. (This is my YMMV disclaimer... lol).
