Sometimes cleaning a customers leather won't restore the finish 100% Abraded seat bolsters, armrests and steering grips loose their topcoat color over time revealing discoloration or even tears in the upholstery. Leather dying is a great way to step up your company's repertoire for offering Autopian level service.

The process starts by obtaining a sample of the customer's leather then sending it out to be color matched (I use Leather Magic in South Carolina. They typically get product back to me in about 1 week. ). Cut a swatch from the underside of a seat or any inconspicuous area that won't ever be seen, order your custom color and you'll need their Deluxe Leather Repair kit too. Follow the instructions on your first go at it and as you do more, you'll become smoother with the process.

Below are some areas from a Lexus and Audi that required service. I charge hourly for this + dye cost. Consider you'll need to apply multiple coats and you'll need to wait for those to dry appropriately. Don't rush this-the slower you go, the better the finish. Application techniques vary from wiping on the product to blotting it. You'll just have to see what applies best w/out creating unnecessary texture or bubbles in the finish.

Impressive results! I might just have to look into that system... I have clients all the time coming to me with damage like that, and the products I've been using (sourced from my local PBE distributor) are nowhere near that good.

Thank you! It takes a few attempts to hone your skills. Doing small sections is much easier than larger (ie, complete back seats!!). I highly encourage you guys to try it. You'll find after doing it once, with directions in hand, it's something worth adding on.

Also, Leather Magic sells an aerosol spray attachment for 8oz containers. This thing is junk. its unpredictable and sprays at thick n thin. Don't rely on it for doing large areas like they sell it for.
