Has anyone noticed that you see scratches and swirls better after using zaino due to the optical clarity of it. I do not want to purchase zaino if won't cover up my swirls and fine scratches.



What do you think.
 
Your best bet is to make sure the surface is perfect (or as close to perfect as possible) before you apply the Zaino. Of course, this holds true with just about any detailing product, IMHO.



Z5 is rumored to have some swirl hiding capabilities, and while it's better at it than Z2 is, I'd still suggest using a 3M SMR, or similar before going the Z route.



Once the surface is prepped, the Z will look great on it, and protect that perfect surface for quite a while.
 
If you prep the finish correctly, then lay on 3 - 5 layers of Z5, you should have pretty much zero swirls. The prep is the key, but Z5 definitely is a good way to cover up anything that might be remaining after the prep.

jw, yes I noticed it too. For the first couple of coats, the high optics seemed to highlight surface imperfections. However, as I layer more and more coats on (currently 9), all surface imperfections have now become very difficult to see.

Also, I have noticed that it takes a few days for Z-5's swirl filling abilities to really take effect, especially when unmixed with ZFX. Surface imperfections I notice when buffing a coat of dried Zaino are gone the next week after I wash my car.
 
Exactly. Surface prep is extremely important in the Zaino process. While Z5 will hide some imperfections in the paint with multiple coats, I have found that its real strength is its ability to take care of marring and imperfections in the Zaino layers, and it does it very well.

Surface prep is paramount. The Z5 will do its job after the prep. As noted in the past the whole Zaino system improves with time. It is amazing how Z improves after Z7 washing and curing. Someday I will get some ZFX to receive this instant gratification but for now one coat a day is enough. Call me lazy :).
 
I've also noticed this as well. As the others have mentioned, prep is the key. I used 3M SMR and then eventually a coat or two of Z-5. I'm not too crazy about the Z-5 as it does tend to darken the color of the paint just a bit with repeated use.
