Told not to wax car with diamond gloss from ziebart

I bought the diamond gloss treatment from ziebart and they told me to not wax the vehicle. No flames please. Thing here is I didn't pay much for it. even if I get a free wax job every year when I take it in to get sprayed for under coat I think it's worth it. Especially in the peak of winter. I'm wondering exactly what I can do to my vehicle to keep it protected and of course looking good with this stuff on it. Like I saidthey don't want you to wax it. I'm sure it doesn't last a year. Would I be able to polish or wax before I go in next year. Or would the stuff have to be removed. Had it done around March and truck still beads up. Color is black which worries me. I am more concerned with protection than looks but I would love to have that wet black look and protection. Would putting a polish or wax over it be useless?

If you polish it you are going to be removing whatever diamond gloss blah blah is.. Which at a year I would probably do. They would probably also tell you not to clay your car either... Idk who it is you are speaking too but if it is a dealer throw their words in the garbage.

I think the "don't wax it" is a selling point of that product. For most people, this sounds good... for an enthusiast this can be painful. Did the product come with a warranty?

what is "did not pay much" mean?

how much did you pay?

it's a cheap polymer that cost them less than 50 bucks put on by a min wage earner...

I'd polish it off and start over with a real coating or sealant

Sounds like the Resistall crap the dealer I used to work for scammed people with. Said it worked for 3-5yrs, blah blah blah. xxxx would wear off after a couple washes. Hope you didn't pay much for it.

Is this what you got???

DIAMOND GLOSS

I have no experience with your ziebart diamond gloss (it's a coating), but most coating manufacturers (opti coat, enviroshield, etc) don't recommend applying anything to the coating. apparently it changes the specific surface texture designed into the coating. if they are recoating it free every year, let them do it or you can just go with another coating and be done with it. OC 2.0 is a more permanent coating, while other coatings like cquartz, enviroshield, pinnacle bl, detailer's paint coating, usually give 2 yrs or more durability and you can apply it yourself.

DIAMOND GLOSS

I think I paid a couple hundred for it as part of a pacxkage when I was getting my rust protection. I know its a good wax job. I have talked to people that have had it done. They were satisfied. It doesnt last for a year. I know there is a lot of marketing bull thats tossed at you. Here in ny where I live the prep and reapplication is free annually so i figured I would do it while Im there for the rust respray anyway. Like I said , even if its just a wax job getting it done in the middle of winter yearly for free was worth it to me.

Well looking at the video it looked like a great advertisement for a glaze with super fillers :) Perfect for when you don't have time to correct paint!

If you believe what the dealer said, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Go ahead and wax it and remove it then do it yourself the proper way and you will be a happy camper with your new ride. The Autopia Car Care Store has everything you need under sun to get the results you are looking for!:autopia:

and another thing...rust protection?

on a new car these days?

not needed at all....even in the northeast

I got that part, but for how many years will they continue to recoat it for you ?
For the life of vehicle as long as you go every year and don't miss one treatment. I had it done in March so I have to go back every march. I think they give you like a30 day range to play with for an appointment. Have to look at my contract.

I lived in Rochester suburb for 5 years......

you got took. hook, line and sinker

Maybe you should reread my post. Especially the 4th sentence. I make enough dough that a couple hundred dollars won't bother me for an annual wax job. Especially when it's already there at the shop getting resprayed in the middle of winter and they clean it for you. If you lived in Rochester I don't understand how you can say what you did. Salt accelerates rusting. Agree? The spraying of the frame etc helps to slow down that process. These are my own words. You can believe that or not.I choose to believe it.
