It might be possible that the detailer(s) that made this advertisement are targeting a very different clientele. Does everyone really question your pricing? Most of the clients I come across are more interested in what I am providing than at what cost. I think that some have been burned by a hack in the past but most just simply know better. If you have explained your procedures and rationale for each, someone with average intelligence should at the very least see the added value you are bringing to their vehicle. If they don't, find a client that does.

I wouldn't let advertisements like this get under your skin. Someone has to detail the 15 year old minivans!!

Same thing here. Let them have the Cavalier and minivan crowd, I'll stick with my Lexus and Mercedes customers!

The hard part initially is reaching the people who appreciate higher quality work. Once you find a few, they will spread your name around to like-minded friends if you do good work.

Exactly! Best steakhouse doesn't get annoyed by 99 cents ads fast food joints across the street are running.

If you are hungry you have thinking what to do but if you are not ...

The absolute truth. I have never advertised in a local paper, flyers, mailers etc.......And I get what I ask without hesitation. OK, one time. I had this "lil ol lady from Pasadena" call two weeks ago. She said I had detailed for her before, and she wanted to know how much I charged now. I told her the starting price without a pre inspection, and I thought she was going to ball me out from head to toe. She said she was only charged "less then 1/2" last time! I told her I would be more then happy to find her a detailer who could do it for that price, which I did. That type of client is what this "Extreme" guy is after. Is he a rip off? No...he's providing exactly what he charges.

This is the type of clent I prefer, normally $300.00 (One step exterior, interior on the Escalade, and wash/wax Porsche) This client is a few years loyal now and is deserving of a reduced rate, but anyone new would have been $300.00./6 hrs. The local car wash/side show detailers charge $160.00 for the Escalade, and another $20.00 for dark colors.
