The Rag Company Mop Kit

We all seem to do some detailing around the house from buffing the shower, window cleaning etc. I bought a mop kit from there and have to brag about it for them.

Ok, this is a house cleaning thread. The Rag Company comes thru again and it is the 18" mop kit. This thing kicks butt over the traditional string/sponge mop. We have a lot of ceramic tile and it took me about 10 minutes to do the whole house. The mop kit actually removes and holds the debris that was on the floor instead of just moving it around. It works great around the bottom edging of walls as it can be rotated to different angles and ride on the edges instead of slopping the cleaning solution on base boards and walls. I have not used it for ceilings and walls yet but I can see the benefit of using it for those areas. For $39.00 it is well worth the money and the pads are super thick and will probably last for a very long time.
I wish they made a 12" one so I could use it in the RV, the 18 is a little wide for that. If you want to save yourself some grief with string/sponge mops I highly recommend The Rag Companies alternative. Just another detailing tool for a much bigger job.

davidc- Thanks for posting that! Last chore of the day (every day) is to clean an expanse of ceramic tile, always intersted in better ways to do it.

EDIT: Oh well, doesn't look like that'll work for my application, but it was worth a look-see anyhow.

Which pad(s) are you using? How easily do they rinse clean? How plush/fluffy/grabby are they?

Wonder how long they'll last before the tile starts to wear them (happens surprisingly fast to mine).

Heh heh, lots of Qs for a guy who doesn't think it's the right unit for him, but I *am* curious how the pads compare to, say.. the mop I tried from MicroFiberTech (promptly demoted to non-household use when it proved unsatisfactory).

I can't find MF Floor Pads that really grab pethair well enough to let me skip the vacuuming and many don't get into the texture of the tiles and the grout well enough to get things truly clean. Yeah, the ad-copy *says* they'll do that but it doesn't happen. And the need to constantly stop to rinse/replace the MFs is a PIA...big job-o'-work to do every night of my life. (We live in a woods, have pets with pet-doors who bring the outdoors in).

Accumulator, the pads are a blue and a orange and I also bought one of the MF string pads also. Like you are thinking I bought an extra blue and orange thinking the same that one pad will not do. I compare the blue to their Eagle MF. Surprisingly I have only used 1 pad doing the entire house and I rinse them in the sink and have little pieces that may require me to pick them out but not to time consuming. I have also washed them in hot water in the washing machine and air dry. These pads are very hefty and I think they can take a lot of abuse. I have a German Shepherd and you know the shedding that goes on but I do not think it is any worse than pulling the hair from a conventional string mop. I bought this to help the wife but find I am using it the most so I speak with experience ;). My initial thought was that it is only $40.00 and when the Wife was in the hospital I noticed the cleaning people using them all the time with rave reviews. All that said everything and everybody has different views and I would like to tell you it will make life easier and you will love them but it would be a $40.00 statement. On the grout section I think these pads may actually help the cleaning as they are kind of plush and thick.

Accumulator, just looked at Micro fiber Tech's site. Personally if you did not like theirs it would probably be the same with The Rag Company. Just my $.02 worth

I bought this set up last year
18" Microfiber Mop Frame - Aluminum
Blue Microfiber Wet Velcro Scrubber Flat Mop Pad - 18"
Scrubble by ACS 618 Multi-Purpose Pad Holder 4 1/2" x 10" Swivel
Scrubble by ACS 621 4 1/2" x 10" White Multi-Purpose Scouring Pad Light Duty - 5 / Pack
Shipping can be kind of expensive for just a couple items, but the more you buy, the cheaper it seems to get.
I will warn you, you can spend hours on this site looking at kitchen toys
They sell a lot of high quality knockoffs at a really good price along with good prices on name brand stuff.

imstew- Thanks for those links! Interesting site.

I gather you need velcro backing on the pads in order for them to stick to that Pad Holder, right?

davidc- Eh, I fear you're right. Mine is just a tough case for this approach! To give you an idea, each time I have to rinse the "wash" MF out at least four times and the "rinse" one at least twice (and those are if I'm doing a very quick/light job, doing things right can take some doing).

And yeah, while the Beaucerons do have the double-coat, they don't shed nearly as much as my (rather coaty) GSDs did!
