This is too good to be true, but I still bought it. Clear coat repair. Man if it can work on those deeper scratches not quite down to the color coat.....

For sure want to hear your opinion. I haven't used them, but bought 2 boxes at a Walmart in Massena on clearance for $10.50 each. Figured why not at that price, TW makes solid products, why not have them on hand if they work decently. If not, they weren't full price, saw a store up here with them for $40/each CDN.

I guess no one remembers the short-lived Optimum Clearcoat Restorer. I passed on it because you had to keep it in the freezer and it was full of isocyanates.

I looked for an SDS to see what was in this TW stuff, but I was not successful.

So I finally got around to using the kit. Overall not the miracle the packaging alleges but overall some nice results. The compound makes a big dent and the clear cleans it up. I think if you have the patience to do multiple passes of compound, its possible to get a flawless repair.

Overall it made the scratches less visible to the point they were hard to capture on camera. I had to change angles otherwise the scratches were invisible.

So what was the product like? Was it more like paint, or more like a coating?
It's like a coating in application, it glides on, and levels out really well. I can't tell where the product line ends. But there is no wiping off. Applicator dries hard but not crunchy.

I wonder if it will yellow over time. Were there a lot of warnings, etc. on the packaging?

You used their compound in the kit? Did you apply by hand, machine, what?

I followed their instructions down to the 30 passes of compound, by hand. There are some warnings, and it comes with cheap gloves, the kind they use at Subway.

Will it yellow, maybe, time will tell.

I'm sorry, I guess what I'm getting at...Optimum had come out with their clearcoat restorer, which seemed to be a 1-part wipe on 2K clear, full of isocyanates, they wanted you to wear a respirator when you used it (just a note on isocyanates--when you spray you are supposed to use an air-fed respirator). Did this stuff have a strong odor?

So I guess I'm trying to understand what this stuff is, whether it's a paint, a coating...you have said it went on like a coating...as you stated in your title, holy grail, too good to be true...if someone has really come up with a "safe" coating that will fill scratches...Turtle Wax sure seems like an odd company to be the "industry leader" on that.

And in the back of my head I'm thinking about how that TW rinseless wash was actually ONR...and whether this scratch fill stuff comes from Dr. G.

I think the Optimum stuff had to be refrigerated didn't it? TW has dabbled in this area before, I still have a similar kit with a clear coat pen and various sand papers they sold over a decade ago.
