Swissvax - worth it or overpriced hype...?

I have seen and been interested in the Swissvax product line for years.

Some of the prices of their waxes though are a bit crazy.

Is it a good line, worth it - or just overpriced hype?

A Blast From the Past. It doesn`t seem that long ago we looked a coatings with distrust. I doubt I will ever buy wax again. Sad.

I`m not sure about Swissvax specifically, but Dodo Juice supernatural is the most expensive I`ve bought. I would say that is approaching my limit on what I would spend on a wax. Sure it`s good but at some price, you have to ask is it worth the investment? I may be wrong but I personally wouldn`t spend the money without having sampled it first to know I`m going to like it.

It`s overpriced, but the products aren`t garbage.

The wax I have is Best of Show. I also have their spray wax , leather cleaner brush, and paint cleaner.

The wax is nice, but I would never pay anywhere near the $300 asking price for it. It`s very similar to Souveran, which is about 1/3 the price & can often be found on sale. The durability of BOS was pretty poor - worse than Souveran. But the ease of use and smell are great.

It`s not a bad wax, but the price is insane for what it is.

The paint cleaner & leather brush I really like.

The spray wax is terrible.

So, it`s great stuff if you have money to burn.

IMHO any time somebody cares enough about the cost to ask if something`s worth it, the answer is "no". If, OTOH, the cost is below one`s threshold of significance, then the answer might go either way. But I just don`t think *anybody* should *ever* give thought to whether they`re spending too much on this stuff.

I think a lot of "upscale" vehicle aficionados who detail their own vehicles have moved on to Polish Angel. Is PA a good value? IE, is the performance (ease of use and look produced on the vehicle) of the product worth the initial purchase price? Depends!! For those who want to achieve the 11/10th`s look (IE, the stunning, wow-factor, head turning, like-no-other gloss and shine) on their vehicle, cost is not an object or justification, but "the look" is. My deceased father once gave me a good piece of advice and wisdom that is a truism in all facets of life: " If you want to run with the big dogs, you`ve got to PAY like the big dogs."

A lot of the photos posted in this forum of vehicles that have used Polish Angel products on them are just exquisite and jaw-dropping. Who would not want their vehicle to look like that!!! But would I drop $200 worth of products on a now rusty 13-year-old daily driver?? NO!! That`s just not me or in my budget-conscious (AKA cheap) detailing for a high-mileage daily driver. BUT for a new vehicle (even a low-end econobox) or a collector/vintage car, then yes, then I might splurge on PA products. It`s definitely a lot better to spend this on a new car than to pay for a dealer-applied "lifetime" paint sealant. Now finding a professional detailer who uses Polish Angel and has experience in using these products is another problem, if you do not want to do it yourself..

Heh heh...If I were more of a True Autopian these days (and had nothing better to do) I`d maybe redo the S8 with something like PA and see if I actually discern a diff.

Then even if it was All That, I`d probably still kick myself for not just LSPing it with FK1000P for the durability ;)

PA has some very high dollar waxes for sale. Anyone used them? I just can`t seem to justify a wax that costs more than my polisher. But if I could afford a Lamborghini I would probably buy some high dollar wax to rub on it. Money to burn, right? I don`t think there is much difference between a $50 wax and a $1000 wax. They both start with carnauba. 90% of the cost seems to be in the fancy presentation boxes. For the record, Polish Angel can save their ribbons and fancy boxes and just send me the bottles. It is wasted on me.

Oops, just noticed this is a SwissWax thread, not a PA one, my bad :o

IIRC the SwissVax was insufficiently user-friendly-sounding, didn`t think it`d be Accumulator-proof without excessive effort. Sorta like the Zymol Estate Glazes.

And yeah...fancy packaging simply turns me off, with *ANY* product in any category. Hate spending one cent on something of no real value and to me it screams "we`re suckering you, sucker!" and/or "our product isn`t all that good so we rely on packaging/marketing to trick the foolish".
