Suggestions for Alternate Compounds/Polishes for Megs M105/M205

I asking my fellow Autopians for suggestions to replace or equivalent substitutes for the Meg's compound/polish duo M105/M205. I have used these exclusively up until now, but after having dusting issues with M105 and LSP-compatibility issues with the trade-secret oils (TSOs) used as a lubricate in M205, I am open to suggestions for alternates and reasons why you like certain compounds and polishes.

Don't get me wrong; the M105/M205 is kind of a standard for many professional and hobbyist detailers, due to their availability and cost-effective pricing. I am just looking for something that fellow Autopians may feel works "better" and why.

It seems like that with the new offering of long-throw polishing machines from Rupes and now Griots Garage, there are newer compounds and polishes to work with these polishing machines as well.

Thank you, Vega!
I hope that some of you who may have already tried to view this particular post, only to see the error message, will try again and hopefully reply with your suggestions.

I am sure that there are many fellow Autopians with the same concern as mine, judging by the number of views (about 57) before this post was fixed.

I'd say without knowing what polisher or pads you're using you need to try some 3D AAT Rubbing Compound and 3D AAT Finishing Polish.

Which polisher and pads are you using?

For that M105/M205 1-2 punch...

I switched to Megs M101 and Carpro Reflect and have never looked back.
I occasionally use M205 but I can't remember the last time I used M105.

I have a shelf full of compounds and polishes...
...but for correction and polishing M101/Reflect are my go-to products.

Hyper Polish & M100, wonderful and effective. M100 - faster cut, more manageable, way less dust, cheap! Hyper Polish, long work time, ridiculous versatile, "safe" to use and still same great finish.

For me right now, Griots Fast Correct & Optimum Hyper Polish.
so many great choices, and maybe a few more after SEMA.
OH yea, Barry Theal just released his new compound and polish, I hear those are supposed to be pretty good. I would love to see some reviews on those products. His company name is Americana Global. Where is Barry at anyway? He used to be on here.

Am I the only one that doesn't think M105/M205 as the standard anymore? I can't remember the last time I used either. Don't get me wrong they did the community wonders, but I think we have a lot of better options today.

M101 is an awesome compound. Doesn't dust up as much as M105 and cuts really well.

Rupes Zephir Coarse is a really good compound. It finishes really well. Only problem I have for it is it can dust pretty bad.

My favorite combo is FG400 and SF4500. I also like SIP1500 when I don't need as much cut. I hardly ever get any dust and I always end up with a great finish.

I think any of the compounds mentioned work better than M105. You get the same amount of cut, less dust, and a better finish.

M100 or M101 are a better compound than M105. There are a lot of good alternatives. Perhaps give the combo that vega posted a go.

I've had good success with Menz 400 and 3800/4000 and I really like Rupes Blue followed by Rupes White (yes they have names). No bonding issues when followed with Menz Top Inspection. Most coating manufacturers want the surface "surgically clean" and that is a tough task.

Griots Fast Cut cream has been my new goto compound since last December. Virtually no dust and it cuts and finishes very well too. For finishing I've been using their Correct cream & Finishing cream since December as well, but the updated HD Polish+ also works very well and the dusting issue is gone, plus wipe off is a breeze.

I second this combo, works well and finishes out so nice.

I took Merlin's advice and picked up reflect to finish out M101, awhile back.

Vega, my polisher is an older version Porter-Cable DA that I use with all combinations (colors/foam density) of Lake Country 3" Diameter pads. No, not exactly high technology, but for myself as a hobbyist on a budget, it beats doing polishing by hand and the results are (far) better and faster. (Good observation, Captain Obvious!)

Thanks to all you fellow Autopians who have responded so far. (Yes, I am the original poster.) Your suggestions and opinions are why I subscribe and read the posts on car-care in this forum because you are the experts with experience who take the time to posts your responses.

I tried Menz SF4000 this weekend and really liked everything about it (liked it just as much as CarPro Reflect, but have used it less).

HD Polish will be my go to polish for the foreseeable future.

I don't compound very often, so I have a hard time buying a different compound when I've got 2/3 of a bottle of 105 on my shelf. That being said, I really don't enjoy using it.

I'm looking forward to trying Carpro Essence.
