Spray & Rinse APC?

The Rainmaker
Has anyone here used an APC as a spray on, rinse off product?
No wiping or agitating, just letting the chemical do the work of loosening everything and the rinse washing it all away.

The old Gunk engine degreaser did this and S100 Total Cycle Cleaner seems to do the same thing.

The Gunk wasn't recommended to be used on your paint, but it didn't seem to cause any problems when used on the painted engine components.

S100 TCC is OK for all parts of a motorcycle including paint, but it isn't exactly a low priced product.

What I'm looking for is something that will work somewhat like the S100 TCC, but at a cheaper price. I don't have any really dirty or greasy areas to clean, but some areas are very difficult to reach with a brush or rag.
If some of you have used an APC in this manner, would you please post the brand and the dilution ratio you used?

Hey Charles,
I have had good luck using Meguiars APC on frontends and white vehicles to loosen up the road gunk and bug residue. I just cleaned a white Dodge Sprinter that hadn't been washed at all for 15,000 miles since I prepped it for winter last year. They van is used for deliveries so it sees many highway miles. I usually will hose down the area to be cleaned, spray/mist some Meg's APC on it dilluted AT LEAST 10:1, or 20:1, and then proceed to scrub away as usual. It seems to really help out a lot with the built up bug residue, and really makes those nasty white vehicles white again.

I'm sorry I didn't see the spray and rinse part. I'm sure this would help in the process, but I would be hesistent to use a spray and rinse product on anything, especially the paint though. Are you not concerned with removing wax?

I
im thinking using spray rinse would not be a good idea. I have been using Megs APC 3-1 with a Foam sprayer from PBs on my wheels and it has been doing a good job for the task.

Shaun i see you been using it 10-1 am i using it to strong at 3-1

The product I presently use is S100 Total Cycle Cleaner.
You can read about it here:

And no, I'm not concerned with it removing wax although I use it in the engine compartment only and even then it is not a regular thing. Most of the time I just wash my engine area with some car shampoo and a wash mitt, but occasionally the S100 helps clean some of the nooks and crannies I can't reach.
Now, as to whether or not it does remove wax, I can't really say.

An APC probably would remove wax and that was something I hadn't given enough thought to. Good point!
Thanks!

I haven't played around with the dilution levels too much. But for most interior work, and tires/wells/engines/buggy front ends, 10:1 seems to work for me just fine. If I'm working on a car and just going over everything really lightly, I will dip down to 20:1 to not waste product. And there is a time and place for everything, it's not being skimpy using it 20:1 for light cleaning, but when I need more power I am sure to come prepared with some 4:1 APC as well. I guess it just depends on what your cleaning.

Charles i remember someone using scrubbing bubbles. I do like the link the and the S100 would be worth a try. I used engine brite when i did my enginebay and i hated everything about it. The odor is horendous it isn't enviromental friendly or safe and can become slippery when steped in..

Yes, the Gunk Engine Brite is all that, but the S100 won't do the cleaning on a really dirty area like the Gunk EB. Fortunately, my vehicles aren't that bad.

I use meg's APC 10:1 for just the wheels, it seem to work for me and saves a lot of product. I use a stronger APC diluted 2:1 for the wheel wells and tires.
