Sonus Green Clay Bar

I've heard this clay bar is extremely light, which is kind of what I'm looking for.

but some say too light...

I'm curious what would be the next grade clay bar up from the Sonus Green?

And also, would that clay bar induce marring? I know the sonus won't (At least from what I've read from alot of people)

And would the sonus be able to take off overspray? (I'm guessing no)

will that clay magic blue leave marring?

I usually do lightly contaminated vehicles, (which is why i opted for SG)

But i'm in a body shop, so I was curious as to if it could remove overspray as well.

If not, I can just buy both. Just trying to learn the nature of them a bit more. thanks!

what about the sonus green? i have yet to see someone say this clay bar marrs

IMO a lot of it is technique, even with a clay that's *that* gentle; once it picks up abrasive contamination it's sandpaper. It can mar if you run short on lube too.

Mothers/Griot's are a little more aggressive but have never marred for me (when I did it right ;) ).

The Sonus green (is it still green, I thought they changed the color  ) is, IME, *WAY* too gentle for overspray, not even close.

thanks accum.

Whats I'll probably buy the SG, and CMB.

I'm still not too sure about it though, how harsh is that Clay Magic Blue on black cars?

yea, I'am. I just don't want over-do it.

However, I do occasionally get customers who just want stubborn bugs removed off their front bumper etc... and quick.

I had a black GS lexus come in the other day, took a clay bar to it, and all hell broke loose on the paint. Which is what i want to avoid.

Well any marring left behind from Clay Magic blue can be removed with a light polishing. For removing bugs and stuff in general, I always look for a chemical method of removal before abrasive.

When you say chemical like solvents or AIO?

The last Sonus clay I bought a few months ago was gray even though it was the ultra-gentle stuff. It also seems harder, difficult to knead and fold than the green clay Sonus used to sell.

Did you find the new light grey as gentle on the paint as the old green one?

Huh...I too am curious about whether it's still as gentle as it used to be

Strange, I've never had marring with clay magic blue. I actually stopped buying it because I found it too mild for my tastes.

Truthfully, I have to say no. If I'm really critical, it seems to mar ever so slightly. I'd really need to compare both the old and new under controlled conditions to say for sure. I think twice now before reaching for it. ONR is my usual lube for clay. Perhaps Sonus Glyde is called for...
