someone's tire scuffed my wheel, what product

Hi,



Someone clipped my car while merging and I had it fixed at an auto body...but they left the wheel alone. It looks like rubber scuff (from the other guy's tire) marks on my back rim. Are there any products that can remove scuff marks on a wheel? The auto body said it can be probably removed with some elbow grease but I don't know what product to use.



Any suggestions?

Most rims have clearcoat paint on them. I would try a paint cleaner/wax first like Scratch Out or some other mildly abrasive cleaner with some solvent in it.

If it has a clearcoat on the wheel i'd use Turtle wax bug and tar remover, the stuff is great. After that i'd put a coat of sealant (Acrylic preferably) on it because the bug and tar remover could strip down some of the clear on the wheel and leave it unprotected.

Better to be safe then sorry! Hope you get it off.

thats exactly what i used...i was using scratchx but the turtle wax bug & tar remover really got it off

Goog job, glad you got it resolved. Claybars also work good on scuffs.
