So does anyone else critique other cars around them while sitting in traffic?

Haha i find myself doing this a lot. Ill be sitting in traffic or at a stoplight or something, and ill always look around at the cars around me and find flaws in the paint such as swirls, scuff marks, paint chips, hollogramming, scratches, ect...

Ill even look at things such as UPS delivery trucks. (which by the way are BADLY swirled...)

I find that a MAJORITY of cars are BADLY swirled, which makes me feel so much more better about mine. :D

So anyone else do this? I guess it comes with detailing my car a lot, but i will just sit there and stare at the car looking for paint flaws or anything else wrong with it. Some of the cars just make me wonder what the hell the people do to them. :soscared:

I've noticed that if I see some nice gloss to the car, I'll try to speed up and get a closer look. My wife says I'm weird.. oh well! What can I say.. it's a passion :)

Oh, don't worry. I'm sure 96% of all members on autopia do this. I look all over for cars and judge the drivers by how well the car is maintained :) Once in a blue moon I get extremely excited when I see a well detailed car that actually have no swirls!

I do it all the time...even when Im walking :sosad

I always glance at the rocker panler areas and wheel well too(for SUV)

I do it glancily, but nothing like what I used to do when I first started out on Autopia. I know just sort of "feel" how other cars are without having to really LOOK at them

I guess I now just am able to feel the Autopian Force... the dark side is strong with many cars! :lol

:werd: It's hard not to look, but I do, and sometimes wonder what the owner would think if I pointed the defects out to them. Then again, its not my vehicle...

Sometimes it hurts me to just LOOK at the other cars. The other day, I saw a beautiful Corvette in the parking lot with buffer swirls up and down it. I just hung my head and shook it - my wife knew exactly what I was thinking.

...and I thought I was just a freak or something for doing it (*holding a candle*)...nice to know other people are the same way :) !!

All the time!!

I was on the way home the other day and a white BMW was behind me and it had the worst swirls I've seen on any car ever!! I kept looking in my rear view mirror saying "damn, how did they make white look so bad?"

I think I do all of these things. My wife also knows what I'm thinking when I look at a car and shake my head. She just smiles, sometimes she'll even point out a truly horrid example of automotive neglect. I guess we rub off on other people a little bit. It really is rare to see a well detailed car I find. Most people don't really care I suppose. So sad.

Same thing happened to me this morning. Black 5 series BMW passed me on the highway. I could not believe how bad the paint was on that car. Swirls from head to toe.

I only do it with nicer cars. I don't care about the typical rice burner or commute wagon.

Yesterday, a blue Maserati Quattroporte pulled next to me a traffic light. It was the first one I'd seen in person. All I really noticed about the car was how swirled up it was and it was bad.

We have assigned parking at work and the guy that parks on one side of me drives a new black 'Vette. I just wonder why he bothered with black. It is so painfully obvious it was the wrong color for him.

LMAO.....this is like Detailer's Anonymous :

Erm...Hello, I'm Kriminal from the UK...and, I ummm........I ummmm......how do I put it ?....<starting to get emotional>.....I study every car I pass and figure how I would get rid off the swirls and scratches.

I've even started to take my PC to bed with me, and threw the pillow out as I find MF towels softer to put my head on. <hanging head in shame>

<now everybody stands clapping to my confession>
