Shaving Cream on cars paintjob...

Will shaving cream hurt a cars paintjob if left in the sun, or anything? Someone is telling me that it does... however shaving cream is like... "nothing at all" if you get what I mean... seems like it'll just wash off no matter how long it's on there.

What about whip cream?

(no i'm not tryin to find out what would be best to use on peoples cars, friends car got hit and we got into a talk).

Thanks.

I remember a post concerning a grad prank and dried shaving cream on the paint/clear that caused some concern with the owner.

If memory serves, the solution was a little more time consuming than just rinsing but I could be way off base. It could have been ketchup which would be a completely different grad prank. Maybe mustard too. Fried onions added to the complexity.

I think a good soak, a glass of vino, and a little AIO and/or Meguiars Scratch-X solved the problem so I wouldn't worry too much, but would get it off without too much delay.

Spray some shaving cream in your eyes and tell me how like nothing it feels.

Yes it can damage paint (emphasise the word can, not will). As wedding newlyweds have found out over and over again. A theory is they have the damage because they are the ones who leave it on there for days before washing it off. The halloween prank recipients tend to wash it off the next day, and they don't seem to have as much problem with damage.

actually it will damage your paint! Speaking from experience... when I got married we had a suburban that got decorated that afternoon.... We took it to a car wash and washed everything off that night and to my horror everywhere there had been shaving cream was 4 shades lighter than the rest of the paint. It damaged the window trim etc the same way.

No amount of polishing and waxing ever fixed it either :scared:
