Do you guys feel it is necessary to have a professionally designed brochure type layout to give to potential customers with fancy graphics, or would a neatly typed out pamphlet be sufficient? For a pamphlet, it would be a front, back and 2 inside pages. The main things on the front would be my business name and logo along with a color picture of a nicely detailed car purchased from istockphoto along with some other miscellaneous info along the the bottom. The two inside pages would be listings of my detail packages along with some pictures of different detailing steps. On the back cover would be my add-on services and maintenance packages.



What type of literature, if any, do you guys use to give to potential clients?
 
Image is reality. However, there is nothing wrong with a very basic, concise, pamphlet that is cost effective. It may be better to go with something that is both affordable and one that creates the image you want to project.



As a side note, over the years I have constantly improved the look of my business cards. Of course, the price increases with each upgrade, but then the card keeps looking better and better. Constant improvement is always the best way to go when it comes to running a business.
 
I just pass out business cards. I've gotten plenty of compliments on them as well.



I just usually let the potential customer know what I do and offer, basically anything detailing related. I also have a website and stress for them to check it out for it goes into detail about my process, technique, products, why they should have their vehicle properly detailed, etc. etc. Also lists in detail my prices and packages/services.



I am going to be undergoing a project to get a real nice portfolio. Black with my logo imprinted 3D-like on the front. Inside will be very professional papers listing my prices/packages, definitions of all terms (clay bar, polishing, washing, de-oderizing, etc. etc.) and having a picture of that term in action posted above. Also I'll have plenty of before and afters of all terms and many photos all together.
