scouring pad

A fellow firefighter just bought an H3 and the previous owner used a green scouring pad to remove tar and left it pretty scratched. What is the best way to clean it up?

Sounds like a good machine polishing is in order. Probably going to need compounding or wet-sanding.

It all depends on how deep these scratches are. Don't go beyond what you are comfortable with as far as removing paint. This is not the time to see how far you can buff before you burn through.;)

If you're not getting good results buffing as far as you're comfortable going then it's time to seek a more seasoned detailer who knows how far to buff.

I agree with Troy. Can you get any pics of the damage? If so, we can give you some better advice and provide you with some options on how to correct it.

Is it worse than the mark to the left of the sun in this pic? The second pic is the same spot corrected.
