Sap Removal

Looking for suggestions for the removal of sap from my Dads car. Entire car covered with clear sap and droed white sap. It is very hard to get off, I tried a bug and tar remover and a wax remover, with minimal results. Would something along the line of Goof-Off or goo gone work ? or do you have other suggestions?

I recently did a 10 year old Pontiac that had a coat of sap so thick - the car's true color was a mystery. I sprayed (about a quart!) of Goo Gone after I washed it and it was still wet, let the GG sit for about 10-15 minutes, it turns whitish and lifts up the sap, I re-washed ( rinse your spronge. brush, whatever - OFTEN!) and then your're sap free.

thanks for that info jimmy, I have a honda accord coming up in a several weeks that gets sapped by the trees alot! :) good to know goo gone works, and its paint safe?

So, what color was the car?

The car was a dull battleship gray (with sap), the surface felt like a sticky orange, the kind you toss cause it's past the edible stage. After the wash, goo gone, wash, clay, IP with white pad - rotary, Menzerna glaze - blue LC pad and topped with Megs 26 - it looked very good, a nice light silver. Also, the paint was slick and reflected the objects around it again. Not bad for 1o year old GM paint, maybe the sap preserved it!

I heard terpentine would work - tried a spot on the Pontiac, next to useless - then I tried the Goo Gone and that was it. Reminds me, I was going to give that terpentine to my father in law - he paints a lot.
