Rinseless Car Wash Feasibility?

I was reading up on rinseless car washing, which seems to be a great idea. Im in Texas and in the summer, it would be really great to wash my car on my covered porch and never drag a hose over to it. Plus, its covered and cooler. However, I was reading a post here where someone said they use it and wash their car every two weeks. I drive a pickup, and I like it to be nice, but honestly, it gets washed once every couple of MONTHS....maybe three or more depending on my schedule. Needless to say, its pretty dirty. Its usually dirty enough to actually get lighter when I wash it.

Is this really a good candidate for rinseless or am I better off using conventional?

if youre really worried about it
run it through a touchless wash to get the heavy stuff off it, then do rinseless or waterless wash

^ Agree. Or take it to a self-serve bay and blast the big stuff off with a power washer. I live in Wisconsin, and even here, I like washing my car in the garage out of the sun, which is a big reason I switched to a rinseless wash (ONR).

I wash my pickup once a week and I think it gets too dirty for a rinseless or waterless alone. Like others have said, it is good practice to pressure wash before touching the paint with anything. Now it's not really a rinseless/waterless wash anymore.

Once you start putting high pressure washers in the equation, its no longer a rinseless situation and you defeat the purpose of why rinseless was designed...kinda like topping a coating.

During winter, I would visit an indoor coin wash to spray off all the heavy build up then drive home and do a rinseless wash.

I believe there are still benefits pulling out a high pressure washer then do a rinseless wash though I understand what you mean. If you use a high pressure washer before rinseless wash, you would:
- remove a big layer of the dirt on car before you wipe away
- prevent water spots since you clean and dry a panel at a time (depending on quick you work)

I myself hate waxing the car so I use coating. Occasionally when I do a thorough wash for 3 hours or more I may want a bit more shine so I top it with reload or BSD.

Just a lot comes down to preferences. I still prefer 2b wash as its the safest

Considering your circumstances I seriously doubt if any time would be saved using a rinseless wash. I think this would be a candidate for a standard bucket wash and you can still accomplish that under a shade tree.

Excellent point...

IF you are washing the truck ever couple of months...
IF you the main concern is time savings...

Then you are better taking the 2 minutes to drag the hose over. With that much dirt on the truck, your rinseless wash would have to be so careful as to not scratch the paint that it would likely be faster to deal with the hose and get maximum protection.
