REVIEW Revive Faded Land Rover Trim using SONAX Plastic Restorer Gel VS Black Again

I decided to clean and protect my trim on my 1999 Land Rover Discovery 2 using not 1, but 2 products! It has been around 6 months since I have put anything on the plastic trim so the Florida sun definitely faded the trim dramatically. Both of these products clean, revive, and protect, so this will be a good test to see which one exceeds the other. :bigups

SONAX Plastic Restorer Gel was very easy to apply, and Black Again was a little thicker and a little harder to apply. Both of the products look exactly the same. Here are some more test spots:

The Black Again does look a little darker than the SONAX Plastic Restorer Gel, but they are very similar in looks. They also both feel exactly the same, smooth, not sticky, and is dry to the touch.

All of the trim looked liked the right, untreated trim before I started. Both of the products give the trim an excellent, new, restored look, and both of the products clean, restore, and protect.

I will follow up this thread with updates to see how long both products last on the different surfaces, and I will also do a test on how well the products repel water.

After two weeks and multiple rain storms including one storm that brought 6 inches of rain and flooding in most areas:

Here are the results for the durability of both products, the SONAX Plastic Restorer Gel and the Black Again:
Both sides looked the same (my shadow made the left SONAX side look darker). Some fading occurred:

Some fading in certain areas:

This picture shows that the SONAX actually held up longer than the Black Again (you can see this on the bottom left), but still both products are faded and have a "washed away" appearance.

On the door handles the products did not last well at all, since they were taken off from opening/closing the doors.

All in all, SONAX would have to be the winner out of the two products for durability, but they both are really close. In my opinion, I think that Black Again has a darker and glossier look. Both products are great for quickly applying trim protection and I would recommend applying these at least once a month.

I'm going to go against the grain here and bet that black again will hold up better. In my experience with sonax trim restorer it washes away quite easily with rain.
