I've been very busy the last couple days testing all the new Chemical Guys products! What I've experienced so far has definitely met or exceeded expectations and I look forward to testing the complete Chemical Guys line as it becomes available in the coming weeks at Autopia-CarCare.com.

First up was one of the most talked about products in the Chemical Guys line, Bare Bones Undercarriage Spray. Bare Bones Undercarriage Spray is designed to dress wheel wells and other undercarriage components for that "like-new" appearance.

I have been using this product in my Shop for over 2 years and it has never failed to exceed my requirements. It also can be purchased in the Gallon size which is how I purchase it.

I have seen Bare Bones as purple, light blue, and now reddish.

Bare Bones is definitely thinner and less oily than Griots.
 
Great review Nick. Bare Bones is a great product. I just used up my last bottle. I bought a couple over a year ago when the product was purple in color. It looks like they have changed it to red now.

As Al stated it is definitely thinner and less oily then Griots UCS. With Griots you want to be careful what you get it on...driveways etc as it can be messy.
 
Have tried the Griot's version, its good, more oily to me, and more expensive than B/Bones.
I have decided to stick with this product for my Clients at this time..

Is this product long lasting? Or is it easily washed off with rain water? Apply everythime I wash? Just trying to figure out how long my investment would last. Years ago I would clean up the wheel wells, protect the whole vehicle & clear coat everything else. This procedure was my extreme detail but it lasted forever. Best done when cars are brand new, if the customer wanted it I would even color match the non-plastic areas & then clear coat everything.

The undercarriage sprays do not last that long.
 
How does a gallon of Bare Bones compare price wise to Megs Hyper-Dressing ? I cut the Megs 3:1 for wheel wells and under the hood. Seems to work out well but always open to other products.

BareBones is around $35.
Megs HD is around $38


When you look at it on cost alone HyperDressing is a much better deal as is can be diluted to get 3x more product...

If you have tried both of these products, which would you say holds up the best in adverse conditions ? Rain,snow etc come to mind .

Isn't Meg's HD a water based dressing? Would Meg's All Season Dressing be a better comarison against Bare Bones?
 
I have never used Megs ASD. The HD is the only one I have any experience with. What is the difference besides one is water based and the other isn't ? Is the ASD thicker and harder to apply ?

HD is water based where ASD is silicone based. ASD is slightly thicker but not hard to apply at all.
