Review: CG Nonsense

Review: Chemical Guys Nonsense

Introduction:

APCs. I have a lot of different ones and didn't need this one when I bought it. Megs APC+ (1 gallon), OPC (3 gallons!), 1Z Blitz are ones I'd bought and tried successfully on interiors. But, I've always liked CG products so bought it anyway.

Thanks to Corey again for providing the format. Unlike one of my reviews on AGO, this one will be a (more) serious attempt.

*Not my pic but mine looks the same.

Other Products Used:

Various MFs and brushes

Preparation:

Mixed per label directions at 20:1 and put in spray bottle.

Application:

Various depending on what you are cleaning. I've sprayed on MFs and cleaned dashes/door cards. I've also sprayed on carpets, brushed and blotted with MF to remove fresh coffee stains.

Observations:

No smell or color. Even at 20:1, was able to clean dried coffee off of light gray carpet with ease.

Does it meet its claims - yes (well, not sure about the "forever" and "world's first" parts).

Comparisons:

Comparing with OPC, I don't believe is anywhere nearly as strong and will stick with OPC for tougher cleaning and, paradoxically, deep leather cleaning. Even dilluted 10:1, is a fair bit more expensive than Nonsense (mine is old formula cut to 3:1) so will be used only on the areas that require it.

I bought Megs APC+ for use with my extractor and it works very well there (and most places I've tried it). Haven't yet tried Nonsense yet in the extractor. Megs APC+ cleans well but does have a citrus/APC smell that is not unpleasant. The most cost effective of my interior APCs - meaning I will use it most for most customers.

1Z Blitz was my first interior APC and, while 1Z Mike and I disagree on exact what it smells like, it does have an aroma. It, too, can be used with an extractor and, to me, leaves a "clean" smell behind. I rather like it but is a bit too expensive for me to use on my (cheap ;-) customers. This is for my car.

The coffee stain was in my mom's car. She is quite sensitive to odors (her husband dropped his coffee trying to avoid a truck - she was more upset about the coffee than the truck!) so Nonsense seemed like a natural choice.

Pros:

1.- Cleans very well
2.- Cost effective
3.- No smell.

Cons:

1.- None I've found.

Final Observations and Summary:

Am I thrilled I bought Nonsense and will never buy any other APC? Well, I wouldn't go quite that far.

Am I distraught I wasted money on this? Far from it.

I also wouldn't put it in the "Of all of the APCs I've ever tried, it was definitely one of them" category either.

I can't say it distinctly outperforms the other APCs but I think it does have a place in my arsenal. If I know my customer is sensitive to strong smells or has small children, Nonsense is the product to use. I haven't used it yet with my extractor but, if it doesn't foam, may become my interior APC of choice once my Megs APC+ runs out (close enough to the same price and would allow me to somewhat consolidate).

Very nice review. I am always on the lookout for a good general cleaner. CG is not a line I have tried yet, but I just might. Thanks for the right up.

Dang, you're doing exactly what I started last weekend, reviews on CG products! Great review! Have you tried cutting this any other way or just 10:1 and 20:1? I have been experimenting with it but have a lot more to do.

Sorry to steal your thunder. I've been surprised that no CG reviews were being put up. I've been using CG products for quite some time and have many. If there are reviews you are in the process of writing, please PM me and I will leave them to you. I am thinking New Look Trim Gel, Inner Clean, and Silk over the weekend (so I can get photos).

So far not, only 20:1.

Great review.
CG products never disappoint.

BTW Have you tried the Sonus TAC?
It can be diluted 1:40 for light cleaning,
1:30 for interior, leather,
even for strong cleaning it is only at 1:10 which is very economical too.

Not yet. (OMG - I do have a problem! ;) I have gallons and gallons of interior APCs already not to mention the exterior ones.) I hadn't heard much about the Sonus product (I've only used their Acrylic Spritz and Glanz).

I like the review and the Chemical Guys Nonsense product seems like a great product to have in my detailing arsenal.

I enjoyed the way you laid out the review. It was an easy read full of useful and important information including both Pro's and Con's...

I'll have to try some of this and see how it performs against some of the competition.

No no no, you keep on going with the reviews and I agree with Pat, can't wait to see more on other products! I'm just glad someone is doing them.

Very complete review.... In you opinion do you think a product like this would be good enough to be my dedicated interior cleaner? I know that here are some people out there that don't like or care for the "extra" scents in some products... I am also thinking of this as I am not really big on Dressing my interior but want to keep it clean. I usually fell that APC are a little to strong for my applications, but on customer cars they are great.

Probably yes. I say probably because I need to see how it plays with my extractor. If it doesn't foam too badly, it will be mine.

Now, I haven't seen anything referring to uv blocking which I believe is very important. I also do not like the dressing look so that is why I follow up with Inner Clean, Megs QID or 1z cp.

Finally some CG reviews!

The one question I have about many of these all surface cleaners especially on carpets is the need to rinse. People say some cleaners (products like Meg's APC+) really need to be rinsed out.

It seem to be something between Meg's QID and APC+ without a scent but at least semi-economical.

Thanks for the review, its really put together very well. CG has so many different products that I can't keep up with them all. I don't think I've even noticed this one on their site.

Thread bump !!

I have not heard much discussion on this product.

It sounds like a good carpet cleaner. I saw a video on CG claiming dilution at 10:1 for carpet (usual another inconsistency from CG).

I have used some Adam's carpet and upholstery cleaner (similar no scent, clear) and wanted to try something different. Meg's APC seems to be a bit sticky in feel so do not thnk it is the best and wipe off type carpet cleaner - requires rinsing.

I have tried Folex too.
