Dave Holmes said:Dawn is regarded as being too harsh on vinyl, rubber, and the like. It dries out those surfaces, and paint, of their natural oils/waxes (rubber contains wax for protection). As a saying on here goes, "Dawn is for dishes. Leave it in the kitchen." If you must use Dawn, I would definitely use a glaze/polish afterwards to replace oils lost in paint. Use a conditioning type vinyl/rubber protectant on those surfaces for the same reason.
For the original question, if you'll be removing swirls/scratches with any type of abrasive polish, don't worry about the wax/sealant you put down previously. A polish will very effectively remove it while it is working on the swirls. Just be sure to apply some after polishing to protect the paint.
