Removing road paint

Just curious now that new road construction has begun, I want to see what you guys are using to remove epoxy paint used to make the lines in the road. This is a real pain in the A--!!!!!!!! Have been using solvent and clay, but their's got to be an easier way. Thanks Gary

I second the motion !

The previous owner of my Vette drove thru some yellow stripe paint (?) and it is in clumps inside the wheel wells. Very hard and VERY sharp :angry

I just did a 97 Vette yesterday. All four wheel wells.

Boy, did I get lucky! It ALL came off in the wash bay, with the presure washer.

I think that's a first. I usuallly expect to use a solvent and plastic razor blade...

That looks interesting !

Wonder if it would hurt the car's paint though?

My road paint has been there at least 2 years so it is good and dry so the paint underneith might disolve too.

I have the solution for you guys. Check out this link:

These things have changed my life when it comes to this type of problem. This takes the road paint off super fast with no damage to the paint. I have not has opportunity to try it on many other types of overspray so I can't say as to how it works for that but for the overspray alone these are well worth the money.

I also use solvents, bondo spreaders, etc. to get the paint off. Sometimes, I use a heat gun to soften the mess. Works the best on tar. I use valugard's new car prep.

Shineshop, I went to the link, can't see any price or how to order? Gary

I think I paid $75 (Canadian) for the big tub with 75 wipes. Any body shop supply store should be able to order them for you. Worst comes to worst - I can get one for you here and ship it.
