Removing clear bra?

Hi all, after about two and a half years, the 3M clear bra on my car has become noticeably discolored on the rear quarter panels and I want to remove it, have the car detailed and then have the local exotic shop put a new one on. I'm concerned with removing it properly to not cause any damage; has anyone done that, any tips, etc.? I was just going to remove the rear pieces, the other parts of the car still look fine.

I've heard bad things about removing clear bras. Like it takes your paint with it a lot of the time.

If this is factory paint you will be fine. Use a heat source to loosen it up. If you have a steamer that is ideal. But a heat gun will work. Just dont over heat the film.

Most cases of the film removing the clear coat is because the film was aplied to the paint before it was fully cured.

This time go with a better film than 3M. VentureShield will be a better option and look much cleaner.

I actually do have a commercial-grade clothing steamer, think I'll give that a try, thanks for the suggestion. I'll look at VentureShield too; I'm happy with the 3M, it's survived this much time, including several track days and other above average abuse, and it's weathered well for what it's seen.

The shop installing the new bra should remove the old one for you. They've done it hundreds of times and have the experience, tools, and materials.
