Removed emblems, residue still remains ?!?

I used a fishing line to pry the emblems off and some solvent to remove anything that was left over. On one side, all of the residue was removed except for some HARD glue that has remained, it's about the size of a pinkynail. There is NO WAY to remove this stuff. On the other side of the car, there is still some stuff left but I can not remove any more. Some of the outline of the emblem remains also. Is there any other way to help soften the glue and what tools should I use that will be safe on the paint ?

Thanks:xyxthumbs

The emblems have been on since the car was made in 97. Im a bit hesitant on using a razor blade to remove any glue. I used the tip of a lead pencil, which is soft plastic, and the damned glue destroyed the pencil ! I think I need a stronger solution guys, so I should buy 3M Tar and adhesive remover ?

Ditto the 3M Adhesive remover. The key to this product is to LET IT DWELL.

If you are unsure about a metal razor blade, try the plastic razor blades.

jimamary's heat gun or hair dryer solutions has always worked well for me in the past, in conjunction with 3M adhesive remover.

Good luck

Let us know how it turns out. The 3M stuff works really well. I removed a lot of goop with that stuff on a 94 Surburban that had the same glue on it. It really works good.

Ok guys, I went and bought the 3M stuff.. (it comes in a tin can right?) and well, I just gotta say this glue is demonic. I tried heating it with a blow drier then soaking it in the 3M stuff, also did it vice versa and no give. On one side a TINY bit remains and on the other, most of it remains and the outline is still visible. Are there any tools I can buy to help me out or should I just suck it up and scrub it down with some elbow grease ? Thanks for the help:xyxthumbs

when I was replacing my stock emblem of my 3000GT with a chrome one I was told to heat it first then peel it off. Then use cotton balls with nail polish remover and scrub the rest of it off. Make sure you don't get alot on you car just in case. I know this isn't going to help you much because it sounds like alot of the sticky stuff stayed on the car while mine mostly came off with the emblem. This is mostly for anyone else who thinks of doing this in the future.
