Removal of permanant marker?

So here is the problem. Somebody seems to have written some jibberish on the windshield stock of a 94 integra. Seems like it is permanent marker...so what is my best option to taking this off without discoloring the plastic. (the ink is red).

Windshield stock? I'm not really sure what that is, but if it's plastic, I'd start with Meg's ScratchX, its a light abrasive that should polish off the marker. I'd stay away from trying to solvent it off on plastic, anything harsh enough to take off the marker (paint thinner, nail polish remover, etc) is probably gonna mess up the plastic. If the ScratchX doesn't work, try stepping up to a harsher abrasive, but be careful with it. A headlight polishing kit might do the trick in this case.

Idiotic me. I meant windshield wiper stalk. The lever that you use to activate the windshield wipers, hehe. I'll give the scratchX a try and some AIO. Thanks.
 
I have always used rubbing alcohol for removing Sharpie type ink.



One word of caution..if you are using it on the actual stalk thingie on the steering column....avoid the lettering. I have seen it wipe off with gentle cleaners. Some cars are worse than others, I guess it all has to do with how the lettering-graphics are applied.



My former Bronco's lettering for the window switches, etc, would wipe off without any effort.
 
liquidtiger720...I have never seen that happen. I used to clean all our audio gear heads and the like with alcohol with never an adverse reaction. You could certainly try a small spot that is hidden first.



I found out about this many years ago in my formitive years as a video editor. To match scenes from camera to camera we would outline the monitor with a marker...then wipe it off with alcohol.
