Quixx

Well I guess someone is gna have to plunk the cash to try it... It actually looks good in their little video but kinda gimmicky.

Alright so who is gonna be the guinea pig?

This kind of reminds me of that infomercial stuff that claimed it was a cream wipe-on/wipe-off scratch remover for automotive paint. It was called GS27. Although, the Quixx seems to be a more thoroughly thought out system than just a one step miracle product. Since it is German made, I doubt they would stand for gimmicks and I'm resonably sure TUV certification isn't considered a minor expense if they were just looking for a quick, infomercialish product splash.

Their FAQ's (QUIXX Repair System - POLISH) talk about plastic deformation and how Quixx does not damage clear coats. It is supposed to deform the paint around the scratch area and this causes the original paint to flow into and fill the scratch.

Does it actually remove clear coat to allow the pigmented paint under it to cover or fill in the scratch, or does it just polish down the clear coat like a typical abrasive polish so that the scratch and its reflections are minimized? How does it "deform" the paint around the scratch area and not cause problems that affect more than just the orignal scratch area? :nixweiss

to do what it says it would have to melt the clearcoat- that's fine if it actually works. I'm skeptical-someone else can try it first.

Did they really hit that BMW door with another door in that video???:scared:

Looks like your typical removed some clear coat and polish back the gloss product to me. They even mention wetsanding. I would say that it works, but you could do it with the same compunds and polished you already have.

I have seen this product advertised in Eastwood and Caswell Plating catalogs..I believe.

A poster on Detailer's Club has the product in hand from his distributor and he will be trying it on a customer's car next week. For what it's worth, this person also reports that the packaging and instructions looked quite professionally presented...although this is certainly not a guarantee of product effectiveness.

I will remain "optimistically" skeptical until reports from other users come in first.:lol

I cant wait to har what he says, they have set some high expectations with their claims and I dont think theyll be able to meet them.

The September 2007 issue of Consumer Reports rates Quixx the best (90 out of 100) out of 7 scratch removers, though it is very expensive. Mothers was second with a 76.

I have a link on my website which reveals my personal findings. (I cant/wont post the link due to a conflict of interest, may be considered solicitation) If anyone is interested in reading it, just left click on my user name and follow the link from the website.

(Mods, if Im stretching it, feel free to remove this )

I will have to try this stuff just for the fun of it.

I love the video where they sneek in fastly about the wetsandpaper and touch up that is needed. They start talking faster during that part:LOLOL

I will let you guys know the truth behind this stuff when I pick some stuff up.

I used Quixx on a small scratch on my driver's door. About an inch long but you could catch your nail on it. After using the Quixx step one and two, it was still there although not as noticable.

Next, I wet sanded lightly with one of the small strips of 3000 grit paper then redid the two other steps. The scratch, while still there, is hardly notcable and if you didn't know where to look it would be very hard to find.

Overall, Quixx worked (IMO) very well. I'm sure with a little more wetsanding, I could have removed even more of the scratch but didn't want to chance taking too much clearcoat off. If the scratch was down the the primer, I doubt Quixx would work but for more shallow scratches, it's certainly worth a try.

For deeper scratches, maybe Langka or Touchup 123 would work better (both of which I've tried but didn't have a lot of luck with) or perhaps a combination of either Langka or Touchup 123 AND Quixx would be the best solution.
