Quick Shine vs Spray and Wipe

Recently I posed the question whether Spray & Wipe might be an alternative to QS. After cleaning up the lower door panels of my black Hyundai Santa Fe with S&W, I MISTED the rest of the car with S&W. I really liked the results, but I had a major problem with smears. I liked the look, but the smears were a PITA in spades.

Today, I followed Poorboy's recommendation of diluting S&W by 50 percent. No smears! And, I like the look. QS is great. Nice bright shine - and slick as the dickens.

Diluted S&W was just about as slick, but the "look" was slightly different and much to my liking. The difference is subtle. It is just as "reflective" as QS, but the overall look is "softer" someway.

I most certainly won't give up my QS, but the S&W is a real contender.

I went over our 850 GLT Volvo this afternoon with Spray & Wipe at full strength. The car was basically clean, just a light/medium amount of dusting on horizontal surfaces and some light muddy water splatter on the lower panels. I didn't move it out of the garage. I love the smell, which is more important when working in the garage than outside. I experienced no smearing, just a clean, reflective, and reasonably slick surface. I must say I like S&W more and more for this niche cleaning. Another thing I really like is cleaning my outside glass with S&W and a MF towel. I sense a beading effect when using that combo. Maybe someone else could comment on that. I haven't yet "washed" with it and probably won't leaving the heavier loads for a traditional wash or QEW.

I continue to give :up (x2) to Poorboy's Spray & Wipe.

Ditto that . . . I dunno that I'll ever use S&W as a waterless wash, but I was amazed at how well it worked on glass. No streaking, and cut through leftover winter crud incredibly well. I also used it to clean up my wheels (spray, wipe off grime with old MF) . . . good stuff. :bigups

I never thought about using S&W on exterior glass and wheels. Great idea.:bow

Did you use full or 1/2 strength S&W? Does it matter?

I have used QS on glass with postive results.:xyxthumbs

I had my volvo s80 covered with dust (parked in a covered garage during work) and this was wrong!! Especially after the intense detailing this weekend (wash, clay, 3m rubbing compound, smr, AIOx2, 3xSG application so far. Souveran to come). I then applied poorboy s&w at full strength to remove the dust layer (including windows); I used two mf cloth method.

Great product:up . It brought the shine I saw before the dust, and has a slick feeling to it. I have since then already put another layer of sg over it and no bonding issue.

rayjicka, I am about to try it as a qd with the suggested 50/50 dilute ;).

I used it full strength; I'll wait to experiment with dilution when my quart of S&W and some other Poorboy's goodies to arrive (I only have a small 8 oz bottle of S&W at the moment . . . thanks for the sample, Steve!). I'd guess on windows it probably works just as well diluted some, but I'll probably stick to full strength for wheels for the extra cleaning power.

Also, I've been trying to contact ClearKote to pick up some Quick Shine and VM, but so far haven't been able to get ahold of anyone there. I'm looking forward to having QS on hand given the number of positive reviews I've seen . . . 'tis the season to try new stuff!

I have only used the S&W at full dilution. I will have to give the credit for my using it for this application to Cola Bear, who I believe also uses it on chrome with good success.

As mentioned in the past I am a full wash type of guy. I had the S&W just for those emergency wipes after maybe running through a puddle or bird crap. After reading this thread I went home last night after driving the Z28 to work ( top down of course 79*) and Cali dusted it after a day of pollen and sun exposure. I pulled the S&W out and used as a QD (hood). WOW it worked good. Seem to remove any film ( haze from carnauba in sun all day) that was on the surface and left surface clean and slick. Not Z6 slick but slick. Of course, being the mad scientist, I decides to mixture a 1:1 mixture of QS and S&W. Again WOW. All the positives from S&W alone with the added color enhancing and surface slicking ability of QS. I finish the rest of the car with this mixture including glass. Zero streaking and the finish appeared just waxed. I will try a 1:1 mixture of distilled water and S&W next time I need to QD but I feel the full strength S&W and the S&W/QS will be hard to beat as a safe cleaning/QD'ing combo.

Thanks guys for enlighting me about the QD'ing feature of S&W. :wavey

I called Steve to order a gallon and got a nice surprise when I told him I heard about him on Autopia. JimS
