Well, I was fortunate enough to be given the pleasant task of testing many of the new Meguiar's GC accessories. So, I thought I would give everyone here at DC a quick rundown of my testing results on some of the car wash accessories. So, here goes...

The Versa Angle Wheel Brush - A very nice brush indeed. The bristles seem safe enough for any wheels, and the design allows you to get into some pretty difficult places. A nice feature of all the Versa Angle brushes are the interchangeable handles. So, you can choose the handle length of your liking (2 or 3 different lengths), and you can use the handle straight, or turn it around to use it on an "Angle"! :D Plus, the palm grip on the handle is nice for those who don't want to use the handle (I prefer this way with the wheel brush). If I didn't have a nice Boars Hair wheel brush, this one would be my first choice.

The Versa Angle Tire Brush - Same deal as the wheel brush... very handy. The bristles on this one are a lot firmer for good "scrubbing" action. I like to use this one without a handle, as it feels good with the palm grip.

The Versa Angle Body Brush & Wide Body Brush - These were two of the products that surprised me the most. I never thought I would even consider using a brush on paint. However, these brushes have extremely soft bristles and hold a lot of water and suds. I'm still "easing" my way into using them, but so far, they are not marring. I'm going to continue to keep a close eye on them. If nothing else, I will use the regular Body Brush for a lot of areas that I use to use a mitt or something else... including door sills, door pillars, bumpers, grills and several other areas. A very handy tool!

NOTE ON VERSA ANGLE BRUSHES: I did have one issue with the palm grip breaking loose from the lower portion of the brush. I understand that Meguiar's is aware of this issue and it has been resolved.

Safety Tipe Spoke Brush - I really like this tool. I'm surprised than I've never tried one of these type toosl before. It really gets into some "tough to get at" places on the wheels... in-between spokes, behind spokes, and even all the way past the rotor shields on my vehicles.

NOTE ON SPOKE BRUSH - I have heard an instance of the protective rubber cap braking away from wire tip. So, keep an eye on this if you get one.

Ultra Plus Wash Mop - Well, this one I'm not fond of... I just don't feel comfortable with a synthetic mitt. To be honest, I feel safer with the Body Brushes. (and you can use the long handle with the mop on the Body Brushes :D ) I also thought the Mop is a little on the small side. Now, if this product came with a large, high quality sheepskin mop... that would be a different story, as this is could be a very handy tool. Those who don't mind a synthetic mitt may find it fine just as it is.

Water Magnet Drying Towel (Waffle Weave) - This one is pretty easy... a very good WW towel at a great price. It's not the softest or plushest WW that I have, but for the price, it's a great deal.

Deep Pile Chenille Wash Mitt - The good news... according to my "burn test", this mitt is a 100% cotton. It is also very thick and plush. There is some kind of foam sponge on the inside that helps the mitt hold a lot of water and suds. The bad news... LINT... and lots of it! After 3 car washes and hand washes of the mitt, it is finally at an acceptable level. Strangely enough, some people have reported no lint? :dunno Others have found lots of lint as in my test.

Anyhow, if you don't like lint, you may not like this mitt. If the lint doesn't bother you (and it does get better with usage), it seems like a very safe and effective wash mitt at a very good price.

Well, that's all for now. I have more, but will hold off until later.

Great review Bossman! The fact that you would use a brush on your paint says alot about product.

Thanks guys! :bigups

Rabbi,

Actually, I'm using the brush on the wife's vehicle! I'm not that brave yet to try it on my vehicle! :lmfao

jaybs95,

I know the new Meguiar's web site has all the MSRP, and they are all extremely reasonable priced. I'm sure that Dwayne could also pick up whatever you or anyone else needs... at least I think he can? :dunno

Hey Boss! Did you have to "scrub" or lean on the brush to clean any sections of the car? If so I'm guessing it didn't scratch the paint. Thanx man. Rick

rabbi,

If I had to scrub... I wouldn't use them. I went over the paint "gently" like I would with a mitt. The Wide Body brush covers quite a bit of area. The smaller brush is nice for getting into those hard to reach places.

Hi Boss,

Great reviews you wrote and i have to say that i too have tried and enjoyed most of these cool tools. All the wheel /spoke and tire brushes are superb and the Waffle Weave water magnet is a great drying towel - great because now a good WW is now fairly easy to obtain locally along with the supreme shine microfiber towels.

Not sure that i care too much about the versa angle body brushes or the chenille mitt. I have a few of the interior brushes that i have yet to try but i feel they will work just fine.

Oh, i tell you what i do like is their Quik detail pad and Even coat lsp app.:bigups The pad is i guess a microfiber covered sponge of sorts but it's really great for qd'ing and is easy to hold like a wash sponge but don't think you can use it like one though i think they also have a gold class wash sponge.

Going to have to try the brushes on the wheels. Volvo's have a bad case of brake dust. I have to clean the wheels like evey 3 days for them to look decent.

I also like the QD pad a lot! :bigups The even coat applicators are also nice. Although, I had the stitching come apart on one the first time I used it. Others have reported a similar problem. I'm sure Meguiar's will get it resolved.

this pad u guys are talking about. does it make spreading qd better rather than spraying it on the car and then wiping or do u spray directly into the pad (i only qd after a wash). does it streak>?

I still spray the QD on the paint and use on side of the pad to spread it and the other side to wipe off the excess.

Boss,

So is the water magnet a good drying towel? Would you buy it again...
wystang,

Well, if I needed to pick up a towel locally, this would be the one I would look for. It's a very good towel for the price. If I were ordering online, I would spend the extra bucks for a larger/thicker/plusher towel.

I received my order of this wash mop yesterday. I've never used a synthetic on my car, however, I have successfully used a wash brush, and it seems ok, (remember, I'm an amateur compared to most of you guys).

I've asked my wife to duplicate the synthetic mop head by cutting apart a sheeps wool wash mitt, and putting it back together in the same way, with the "interior" elastic. If this works, I'll be very happy.

I'm not fond of continually bending down to clean any car panels, kills my back. This would be soooo good for me to work with!!

I'll report back on both the synthetic, and my wife's handy work with the sheepskin.

Finally, I completely agree with two points. Would Meguiar's market a product that might scratch cars?? Not sure about that... And, second, if they were to make a sheep's wool cover for this handle, it would be great!!

Thanks for the in depth reviews!

I tried this brush and it's OK. The EZ Detail bush from CMA and Top of The Line is a similar type brush but much better. I use it to clean the backs of the wheels through the spokes. It's much softer and much better built than the Megs. It costs about 2 1/2 times as much but is well worth it.
