Hey guys i need advice from all you pros.

As of now i am running a detailing business and am making the company alot of money and i am also running my busines son the side which is bad because if the company finds out they will not like that very much because i am well competition. Well anyway..... there is this really good production body shop where i live that needs a detailer mainly for wet sanding and buffing purposes and i will also learn all the tricks of the trade in a body shop... so i figured that this will be a very good expeirience and that it will help me out alot with my business in the future. So do you business owners recommend body shop expience???

Pretty much i will be making less money but i wll also be gaining knowldge on body work and painting cars and stuff. I really love my job now but i guess it is always good for a change. I just really hope the other employees arent mean and stuff because i hate working in a environment where people are butt holes

Man, I wish I had more body shop experience. If I had to do it over again, I'd definately work in a body shop for a while and really learn the in and outs from guys that do it every day. I had to learn everything by trial and error, and that was frustrating and time consuming. Even now, after years of detailing, I feel I could still benefit from body shop experience, but unfortunately a job change is out of the question for me. I say go for it!

I'm not a pro detailer or body shop guy, but I am an advocate for learning as much as possible (3 BS degrees, currently working on an MBA). Get the knowledge and experience. It can only benefit you.

I say if it fits into to your long term plan then go for it. Just don't forget your plan.
It sounds like you want to expand your own business (which I firmly support).
If you are able to work your business on the side now, you need to be able to work it on the side if you move.
Then you can add the body shop experience to your resume.
When the time comes to quit and expand your own business. Do it.
Good luck!
