Preventing rust

I attempted using a product called Weathpruf by http://www.kanolabs.com on a problematic wheel weight that was always rusting up on my gf's car. After filing off the rust on the weight with sandpaper, I applied the Weatherpruf, a yellow shellac like substance that dries clear, on the weight and all through the winter no more rust :up



Also when I first got my car, I aplied it very thinly around the rims of my rotors and also on my cast iron intake mainfold, all that heat, and it appears the Weathpruf held up for some time; although now I'm probably going to have to apply some mainfold dressing as the protection looks like it wore away now.



I've used in on the under carriage of my older car, but that wasjut to prevent further rusting, it's hard for me to say how long it lasted.



You could order enough of this product to do several undercarriages, it comes in a tin gallon container.
 
When it comes to wheel arches, I use Omikron RD Black. A spirit based satin finish product that you spray on. I put some on every week I detail and eventually you have enough on there that the arches get a really wet look finish. Looks awesome. The only drawback is that if you got it on paint, virtually nothing will get it off. Don't use on a windy day. I also use this for the inside of my car's chrome exhaust tip to prevent that horrible orange colored rust that seems to strike most cars. Great for exhaust mounting rubbers and the engine bay.

For underbody it's Lanotec Lanolin. Comes in aerosol or 5 litre container.
