my plastic OEM wheel covers on my malibu get really dusty after 1-2 days after i scrub them down. is there any type of protectant or something i can put on them that will help to repel brake dust?

Poorboy's Wheel Sealant works good and is easy to use. Also, just about any good sealer like AIO/SG, Zaino, etc. works pretty well.

Some brake pads are more prone to dusting than others, so one key is after you have them cleaned and sealed is to try and keep them clean before the dust has a chance to etch through the sealer or into your wheel covers.

I agree with Eliot that Pb's Wheel Sealant works well (although I don't really know if it works any better than any other sealant/wax). For easy care, you need to get those wheel covers smooth and slick, so polish if necessary and get a good sealant/wax on them. The nice thing is you can pop them off and work on them inside in the sink, on the bench, etc.

I would swap out your brake pads to start. Then use a wheel sealant to protect them and make cleaning easier.

I agree, get some ceramic pads, they are very quiet, stop much better, and are very low dust.
