Prestone Ice Fighters, safe for paint?

Prestone has a new line of products for taking car of ice on the windshield, including one you can spray on the night before. Does anyone know if they will damage paint with the inevitable overspray from the glass? Also, what about impacting any LSPs you have on the car? Or for that matter would it hurt Aquapel?



Apparently it contains methyl alcohol and propylene glycol.

I would doubt that methyl alcohol would do too much damage to paint, but it would definetly strip most LSPs and it might damage trim. Consider spraying the shield on a towel and toweling it on to the windshield - it'll protect the paint from overspray.
 
It will undoubtedly affect the Aquapel, but whether it completely removes it is a good question.



You would need to strip the Aquapel to get the max benefit out of this product or any other windshield treatment.



Just a quick question: if you already have Aquapel, do you really need this product as well? I was under the impression that any at least semi-quality windshield treatment would make ice removal a bit easier.



Of course, I am a typical "snow is a myth" Floridian, so maybe I don't know anything :lol



And yes, with any spray product, its always a good idea to spray the towel and not the surface.
