Yesterday, it was time to wash, polish and wax my mother’s 2006 Pontiac G6. It didn’t see any kind of detail since July 2008. Though it’s been washed every 1 to 2 weeks.
I had some products that I hadn’t have the chance to try yet, so it was the perfect car to do some test. Her lease will end in about 4 months I believe.
Process :
- washed with a mix of NXT soap (3/4) and APC (1/4)
- dryed with an Absorber and a water magnet
- the car would have need clay, but I had no in hand unfortunatly
- half the car (left side) was polished using a G100 and M105 with a
Meg’s Yellow pad then with M205 with a LC white pad
- the other half (right side) was polished with Meg’s Paint Reconditing Cream
with a Meg’s yellow pad
- rewashed with GoldClass to remove the dust/oils
- waxed by hand with Meg’s #26
- final wiped with M135
- tires were shined using Meg’s Hot Shine tire spray
- all lower trim, miroirs, wheel weels and flaps were shined with ASD
I liked working with PRC. Very easy to use with not bad results. Now, will it last ???
This is what I began with (the car was last washed 2 weeks ago and no polish/wax in a year) :
Nasty bugs
Afters :
Sorry the sun was down when I was done. Total time : 4,5 hours.
I hate those tires. I’ve never been able to have an even shine with those.
This is what shows on the lower sides. Seems like a commun problem with all G6 sedan because of the body shape. Damn, it makes the car looks like s***. It would need to be repainted.
This is the interior. And she said it was very dirty ! She likes to keep her things clean.
Those are pictures from this morning in the sun.
