Has anyone tried to put plastic wrap on the front of there car when traveling, to keep the bugs off.

I'm thinking about trying it this weekend, I'm going out of town for a car show, I'm thinking blue painters tape around the edges, to keep it from blowing off.

We tried it on our way to Nopi in 2003 and it lasted about 20 miles before blowing off. I suggest just using some of that Duplicolor spray on stuff.

I havent heard of this product, any info?

I tried that once. Same results as Danase. I just throw a good coat of sealant on (M21 for me) the night before. Then as soon as I stop, grab the QD and they wipe right off as easy as the dirt. If you wipe them off with QD each time you stop for gas on a trip, it's not that bad.

I cant say I've used Saran Wrap as a condom like JuneBug, but when I lived in Florida there's two weeks of the year for june and love bugs that were *rotten*. Saran wrap did the trick, never had it blow off. Dont put it on dry, lightly mist the front of the car with a little water or quick detailer first to help it stay.

Drove a black 300C back from Idaho to Cali - used the plastic "cling" wrap - it flew off and "clung" to a semi-truck drivers window - thank god we had a HEMI . . .

I managed to get about 2 miles on the highway with plastic wrap on my car before it blew up on my windshield... I stuck to the complete blue painter's tape bra after that :)

Oh, another thing you can do is go to the dealer and ask if they have any of that white body wrap they use while the car is in transportation.

If you do this often, maybe it would be worthwhile to buy a leather bra? You can just put it on the car during these things. I've been thinking of doing the same, but just can't justify $200 on something I won't really be using too much.

Of course if you rarely do this the methods described here would probably be better (money-wise).

I hate the leather bras. They mar the finish, trap dirt and are a pain in the rear to put on the car. Might want to consider something like a www.rockblocker.com

Couldnt there be a possiblity of the Saran Wrap getting REALLY hot, say in a traffic jamb and melt to the paint? I would stay with painters tape or the white stuff that comes on new cars..

I know direct heat can melt saran wrap at high temps, but I use it to cook microwaved foods often and it holds well.
