This is a vehicle of a client of mine that wanted the pinnacle black label coatings on his paint, glass, and wheels. His vehicle came to me with a decent amount of bugs on it so I figured it would be a great opportunity to test out the pinnacle safe scrub bug and tar pad that I had recently purchased through one of those awesome holiday sales.

Pics:

Soaked the pad in cg citrus red for about 5-7 minutes. I could immediately feel how much softer it became after the soaking, making me feel much easier about using it. (even though after reading Todd’s post about this I know for sure it should not mar when used properly.

Bugs on the mirrors came off with ease.

Rinsed clean

In action:

I wanted to test the ability of this pad by itself so I chose not to presoak or use a bug and tar remover. After a small test spot on the lower corner of the bumper the bugs came off so easily with just the soap and minimal agitation that I felt comfortable using the pad just by itself.

After:

It just pulls the bugs right off into the texture of the pad and they either rinsed clean or came clean when agitated on the grit guard

Thoughts:

The item came wrapped with the paper sleeve shown in the picture. Just remove, soak and use.
This bug and tar pad definitely does what it is claimed to do. It just pulled the bugs right off the front bumper and a lot of them were absorbed into the texture of the pad and rinsed clean very easily. Only minor agitation was needed to get even the most stubborn bugs/grime off. This pad works much better than the dollar store bug and tar remover pad that I have purchased once or twice in the past.

At $7.99 per pad this is a good buy. I think I even purchased it on sale for 5.99. Even at regular price it is still cheaper than most bug/tar remover products and will definitely last much longer. And the more you purchase the better deal you get per item.

After soaked in the soapy solution the bug scrub pad kept a lot of moisture and with multiple sides to use it only required one rinse off in the wash bucket but it wasn’t 100% necessary I just wanted to make sure I was extra careful since this was my first use. As far as marring, I did not notice any from the bug scrub pad. From my perspective this product did its job as advertised and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a bug and tar removal pad.

I'm actually looking forward to having a chance to use this again.

Reservations:
I am not sure how well this work after being soaked in an ONR type solution as they do not offer the nice suds as traditional car wash soap. A presoak with opticlean or waterless wash product might be necessary but I have not tried this yet.
Also I did not have a chance to use it on any tar as of yet.

thanks for reading

Great review !!!! I just picked one of these up on my last order. I can't wait to give it a try. Unfortunately with the weather we have been having it will be about 3 months from now :)

Excellent review! Thanks for taking the time to write it. I have one but was skeptical about using and now I think I will.
go for it! just make sure to soak it for a few minutes, that seemed to make all the difference as it really softens up the pad

i lucked out on a 55 degree day. but i cant complain we just get near freezing temps here in central tx. i couldn't deal with snow like i saw on the eagles game for instance. the heat spoils us here 10 months out of the year

Great review. We have been having crazy wind here so I get to use mine again this weekend on a car that got hit with a few roofing shingles and left a lot of tar on the car.

It stinks. We got another 2 inches today, frigid temps all week, and another storm predicted for this weekend. At this rate I may not get the chance to wash my truck all winter. :wall:wall:wall:wall:wall:wall

Excellent review. There is a picture of me scrubbing a Bugatti Veyron somewhere on this site with one. Big fan :)

Great review and something I very much need to consider getting. Folks don't understand that you still get bugs on your car in Texas even in the winter.....much like Florida I suppose. It does make me wonder how well it would work combined with Poorboy's Bug Squash, should be awesome but might be overkill.

exactly...at least we dont have the love bugs, at least i dont think so

i really liked using the pad, as far as im concerned its already paid for itself in ease of use for the one job i put it to work on, plus i didn't even have to use apc or bug n tar remover, but im sure it would help if the vehicle has heavy bug guts on it- luckily for me the genesis above was only on the higher end of the light bug guts range

next weekend when i go see my family i will really be able to test this thing out because they drive many miles daily and their trucks are heavily soiled in bug guts

Not only will it get the bugs off but when there is no compressed air available it is my go-to tool for cleaning and revitalizing microfiber discs on the fly (dry of course).

I have one of these and scared to use it. No way that's not going to scratch.
