Pc Noob!

Hey guys,

I just picked up a PC 7424 Kit from here with the SFX bundle (SFX pads 1,2,3 and MF bonnets). I am extremely excited about getting this invaluable tool, and I plan on using it for the first time this Sunday on my 2004 World Rally Blue Subaru WRX. I have maintained the paint on my car as best I knew by hand for the past two years, so it's not in too rough shape, however....

I have swirling (a bunch) and some light scratches here and there (not completely through the clearcoat). I have watched all the videos I can find on how to use the PC, plus it looks pretty idiot proof to me. I read all the forums and all the directions... What I need is the following:

Someone please help me with three foolproof products (Light compound, Polish, Final Wax) that I can find in a local autoparts store that will take my swirls and scratches out and polish up the car nice with my new buffer and SFX pad kit. I'd rather not order any more things online and find things that are easy to access through local stores.

Like for example what store bought stuff goes well with the SFX1 pad, the SFX2 pad, and finally the SFX 3 pad?

I have my stuff that I used before I bought the PC but it's mostly Mother's and Turtle wax stuff and I heard their waxes really are not that great. Only thing that I am not going to change about my paint care routine is the fact that I always use claybars because they are awesome.

Thanks for all the help in advance guys and I will post pics when it's all done.- Dan

For over the counter I would probably go with the Mothers 3 Step products. Mothers make a good product, at least the Reflections line seems to do a good job. Or even the Meguiers line too! Most autoparts stores carry them.

Thank you so much!

That's funny actually because those are the products that I have been using all along, so I guess I will just stick with them but use the PC with them....maybe I will use some clearcoat safe light compound or scratch x with the yellow SFx1 pad...Seems like it'd work without being too harsh on my paint.

There is an bodyshop supply store ten mins from my house though, so if by chance they have the Klasse products there, I might pick those up...but if not, then it's all good and I will use the mothers/megs.

Optimum Compound

Optimum Polish

Zaino or Poorboys Natty Blue

If you use the claybar really often you might wanna pick up a clay bar that can be used on the paint often. I think Sonus makes some.

Apparently ScratchX is meant to be done by hand. I've heard of a few people using it with the PC, but it is generally not recommended.
