Owner says use "special wax" on 08' Mystic Blue Saturn Vue?

Detailing this for my girlfriends parents, don't want to mess it up :) They said the dealer mentioned using a special wax since this paint was different. It does seem to change color depending on the light.

I was planning on using Megires NXT 2.0, will this be safe to use?

Thanks!

You have to use the Saturn limited release Mystic Blue Sealant.

Saturn also sells "Perfume on a Pig"......

Make sure you use a paint cleaner at a minimum, then proceed with your NXT. Remember, they're car salesmen, not detailers!

A "special wax"?...I have done many newer Saturns with Nxt and an assortment of waxes. I wouldnt worry about it, the Nxt will look good.

Ask the dealer to put that in writing. Otherwise have them look at the owners manual.

Thanks for all the input guys. I was simply going to wash and wax with the NXT. Patrick, I take it you were joking about the "limited release Mystic Blue Seleant" :)

Also, I've never used a paint cleaner, what is that exactly? I've polished quite a bit however.

Something like Klasse All-In-One is a good cleaner to remove any oxidation, etc. Also, consider claying the vehicle. Just a side note; I have an 08' Black Onyx Saturn Sky and I agree that the dealership was trying to take advantage of your gf father.

Oh cool, I actually have some AIO and use it occasionally. I've been using this Meguires #80 Speed Glaze and it seems to do pretty well as a one step polish. I like the Meguires DACP also.

I have heard that Saturn actually has waxes made using ingredients from the PLANET Saturn!

The dealer is an idiot. They just wanted to sell them their $500 wax.

Does Saturn really have a $500 wax??? I've always thought of Saturn as the American version of Kia...

all dealers have a $500 wax. They like to make it sound like it is from the manufacture but no manufacture has anything like that.

I remember 24 years ago a friends parents buying that on their new Honda. And they only had to put a 'renewer' on the car every couple months. Gee, even back then if they'd waxed the car with a cheap wax every couple months the paint would have looked good for years. It kills me that the 'paint protection' option lives on. I see people asking about them online a lot and they often refer to them as being from the car manufacture like it is what the manufacture recommends.

I was talking to a detail manager at a dealership I worked at once and he said the worst part of his job was delivering the cars to the customers after the paint protection was applied. Because he had to explain to the customers what it really was after the salesman told them it was basically like adding another clear coat to the car that was also bullet proof.

that is much better than when they get the ingredients from the next planet farther out. (sorry couldn't resist the grade school humor)

I had a client who insisted I used a wax he'd read about on line when I did his black Mercedes. He wanted the whole treatment with set time between coats which would have been a huge waste of my time, sitting around waiting for wax to set.

So, I suggested I do his wife's black Mercedes on the same day, just for something to do, but with the products I use. During the breaks in the action that's what I did. Since I'm posting this, I'm sure you can figure out what happened. And yes, I did exactly what the instructions on his products called for - to the letter.

Now, he has me use whatever I want.
