Oskar Microfibre wash mitt

Has anyone used the "Oskar" brand Microfibre wash mitt or Waffle weave towels they are selling at Walmart?

They seem plush, and reasonably priced, but what is important to me is the all important C.D. scratch test.

Might just be a new source for good microfibre products???

My experience with WalMart Microfiber is that they tend to leave a good deal of lint behind.

I buy them but use them mainly for interior cleaning, drying wheels out and for the jamb areas of the doors, trunk and engine areas.

I have as of yet not seen nor tried the wash mit you speak of.

I've seen this stuff up at the Wal-Marts on this side of the country too. They're not "cheap" stuff, they're made by Oskar, yes that's right, the BROOM company! :p

I haven't used any of this stuff, but if you want a MF mitt, Canadian Tire sells a nicer looking one from Simoniz. The 3 pack of MFs was priced okay though IIRC...

I seem to remember a thread somewhere about how most MFs are made from one of two source countries (China & Korea ?) and only a few choice factories from within those countries.

I guess that makes alot of different 'makes' of MF pretty much the same.

Anyone like Pakshak or DF Towel shed light on the details ?

Now that's opening a can of worms! No, all microfibers are not the same and no they do not only come from a few factories in the orient. To keep it brief microfiber is simply the term for any yarn that is below a certain diameter measured in deniers. That is why you have poyester microfibers and you have microfibers from natural materials.

Some are woven, some knit, some combined with other fibers, some not. Some can really scratch, others are soft as butter.

It can be quite confusing, the best thing to do is simply read what others say about the different products, try a few different ones that have been recommended, and form your own preferences.

Like polishes and waxes... to each his own!
