Is there a new product stops or significantly slows rust growth? I know once rust starts it is nearly impossible to stop.

I restore old British cars. I KNOW rust!

The oly absolute way is to cut out the rusted area and replace with new metal.

Shy of that, the best way to slow rust is to grind/wire brush down to as much clean metal as possible. Then paint with a rust converter. The best over-the-counter product is Corroless rust inhibiter. I have used this product for years with great success. It was originally designed for use in super-corrosive enviornments like off-shore oil drilling platforms.

It can be purchased from Eastwood Company.

While there are a couple of other paint type products, Rass O Nil, Zero Rust, they are applied to bare metal.

The Finnigan's and Waxoyl are the same product, Waxoyl was Finnegan's repackaged. We were the North American Distributor for years of Waxoyl rust inhibitor.

In 1992, the relationship came to an end due to many factors, but one was the changes in the way vehicles are built, the sealers used, ecoats, etc. These, according to the engineers at the Big 3 required formula changes, changes that Finnegan's etc did not wish to do.

We then used our plant chemists and broke the formula and made the changes to meet the new specs.

This product is for application over the finished interior cavatities which have the paints previously applied.

It is a micro wax based product , same basic as the Finnegan's, but with the new changes.

It force moisture away, and stops air from getting to the paint/metal of the vehicle.

It passes the toughest spec in the world, ASTM, and exceeds it.

While we do package it for DCX under their label, ship it all around the world for assembly plant, port use and sell it to dealership with a warranty , we decided to finally make it available to the home user in an aerosol can.

This one can will cover 80 to 100 sq feet. It has a "fogger" nozzle for open flat panels, such as doors, exposed quarter panels etc and another nozzle with a straw like tube (You see this on WD 40) and this allows the user to shoot up through drain holes and the like to fog into inner panels.

Just a little info, since you know the English rust buckets, thought you would be familar with the brands over there, and now the new version is here.

Am VERY familiar with it! I still have about a dozen gallons of Waxoyl in my basement. I actually bought it in the UK and shipped it back years ago. I use various methods to blow it into all body banels. I have a couple pressurized, refillable containers that have a myriad of differently sized and shaped sprayer attachments to allow me access to any interior panel.

I have gallons of the stuff (both clear and black) applied inside and out the BMW and Jag.

Those are not the rust inhibitor, but the undercoating product.

The clear did not sell well as people like to see the "black" and is more acceptable. The undercoating does contain a percentage of the rust inhibitor.

Don't blow the undercoating into the inner panels!

May cause clogging of all important drain holes!

Take a look on our site under the Warranty Products section and there are photos you can go to that show proper installation of the products.

The Sata gun with two wands is for the application of bulk rust inhibitor (can't legal call in rust proofing anymore, thanks to Wisconsin).

The undercoat gun is neat, but you need one of the bottles and we only ship 6 caps and tubes per 12 bottles, so they reuse them.

Under the Waxoyl and our ValuGard, the DCX Master Shield name the rust inhibitor has been applied to at least somewhere in the area of 7 to 8 million vehicles in North America.

Our claims are less than .0001% and 99% of those are due to the installer not actually installing the product or decided he was smarter than us and installed it his way.

Yes, I only used the Waxoyl undercoating. (I stuck with Corroless as an inhibitor for any rust I couldn't cut out.) I really like the clear stuff. It never felt as messy as the black. Psychological, you know.

Will either of these sprays, the Auto Int Rust Inhibitor or the Eastwood Rust Stabilizer, last on my extremely hot muffler. My muffler is only 7-8 months old and already has rust forming by the chrome exhaust pipe and on the seams of muffler. I applied AIO initially but obviously with the heat it will not last. :(

Ron, would you say it's considered a barrier rust inhibitor? What about any moisture that is trapped upon application, if the coating has breaks does water get trapped up in there? How much do you need on there to be effective and how long does it last (how often is reapplication?) What happens if you mistakenly apply it over rust?

As for ASTM, that's cool, but how did it do in APG?

If moisture is present, it displaces it.

It will last, when properly applied, 7 years or more.

Applying over rust is not it's intended purpose, however, it is very effective in stopping the rusting action and that is about all I can say. We took an old 40 ft trailer we used for storage that was rusting like crazy and used it to check the amount of coverage a can of aerosol would cover. That was almost 3 years ago.

The trailer has not rusted any further, surprised the hell out of me!

ASTM is the standard we are required to meet. I am not familar with the APG standard, as we have never been asked to test to that standard.(at least to my knowledge, but Tim might know)

Want some interesting info on the product. All Humvee's that are outfitted for the missle launchers have the product used to seal the operator's cabin area, the cab area etc, from the toxic fumes of the missiles! It is the only substance that Krogh has found to effectively seal the areas for the life of the Humvee's.

We are now seeing this product getting ready to go kick some Taliban butt!!!

:bounce <- My little buddy!!

Thanks for the info Ron, I'm definately going to look further into it. (hopefully I can find where have it on your page) The only other thing I need is to find a way to get under my car effectively :)

The concern is the inner cavaties, where dust and moisture collect.

That is where the perforation comes from. For the under part, that you see, is where the undercoating comes in.

The product is under our BodyShop Products section.

My dream of having one place to shop is now complete. PAC now carries ONR! Thanks guys! Not sure what finally made that happen, but I am sure God was involved. First Collinite, now this. I have no room to complain. If you haven't tried ONR, give it a whirl. You will love it.

Post comments on other OPT products. Which others should I try?

+1... I agree, I can buy almost every detailing product from PAC now. Try the Optimum Car Wax. You can wax your car in 5 - 10 minutes, and you won't believe the results.

The reason that this happened is because Jack listens to us nut jobs on this forum. He sees that we all like a product line and goes out and busts his tail to make it happen.

Thanks again for listening to us Jack:thumbup:

Jack is really a great guy, you guys have no idea the heart and soul he puts into PAC. It is admirable.

Three or four years ago PAC was almost forgotten about, heck even two years ago you would barely see mention of PAC on any websites. This from the company that literally pioneered on-line car care and has done some pretty amazing things: Introduce and import Menzerna, developed waffle weave towels, be the first to sell microfibers, make some of the best waxes, etc...

When I first met Jack we hit it off right away. I was picking up some equipment and had zero interest in another 'job'. After talking to him, seeing his vision for PAC, and most importantly getting to know him and his convictions, I had to be a part of this.

Jack is a car guy, first and foremost. An F1 fanatic who knows the firing order of just about every American V8 ever made who loves to detail. I personally think that PAC's resurgance is 100% do to the passion that Jack puts into running an open and honest business dedicated to it's customers.
