One Of My Pet Peeves

Just One More Coat
Every year when I get the new registration tags for my cars...I take off the plate clean and reprotect the paint under the plate....Then use a heat gun to take the old sticker off and carefully apply the new one....My pet peeve is when I see someone that has applied the new sticker over last years and not got in on straight, or part of the sticker is stuck to the license plate ring....or even worse its off to the side so you can still see a bit of last years...how difficult is it to remove the plate and even put the new sticker on over the old one straight?

I've also seen people just put the new sticker in any empty corner of the plate. So once they have 4 years they have all four corners with different dates.

Never have that problem, NY has the tags on the windshield of the car.
Some IG and a razor blade and it looks beautiful :rockon

I havent updated my plates yet, still not due, but would a hair dryer be good enough to heat it up?

Yea a HD will work just fine....get the area warmed up and peel back a corner and then lift it...most if not all will come off, don't use anything sharp on the plate...the paint is real thin....then I use Goo Gone to remove the residue, clean with APC and put the new sticker back on....to me it just makes the plate look less cluttered

Haha sounds just like Jersey

I know they started the registration decals in 2001 or 2002 and ended it sometime last year. From that time though people would put the stickers everywhere, which is really sad considering there are two perfect empty boxes in the upper corners of the plate. It even said very clear on the paper that came with the stickers place on upper right corner, one per plate. It's amazing how many people put them in different locations, or mulitple decals on the same plate. I think my friend and I we're the only people to actually remove the previous decal, prior to putting the new one on. It really never got me mad though I would just laught at em.

In St. Louis you have to cut several slits over the sticker after you apply it or some jerk will come along and scrape it off with a razor blade and steal it. With all the cuts it is impossible to get it off in one piece and people give up and move on to the next car. My weathertech plate frames with covers help too.

I dunno... but I've got 5 years worth of tags on my plate; I don't bother with taking the old sticker off since I fear damaging the paint underneath.

I don't start over every year, but since I may have a vehicle anywhere from 60 days to 14 and 18 years, I have to remove a few or the stack would be 1/4" thick.:)

LMAO @ rabbi.

Here in Texas, registration is a sticker on the windshield.....I hate it. I'd rather have it on my plates.

When I lived in Missouri, We had a little sticker in the corner of the windshield. Think it was abou 1x2.5 ish. Barely noticed it.

I would definitely hate that as well. I don't even put the little oil change reminder stickers on my windshield because they annoy me. I do have to put my staff parking pass for work on the windshield with a suction cup, though.

Have them put the oil change sticker in the passenger seat. You can then put it wherever you want it.:)
I put mine on the mirror on the driver's side sun visor.

I had the tranny fluid changed in my Trailblazer the other day. I heard the guys talking to a customer, saying they changed his airfilter, and put a sticker on the radiator mount stating when it's time to change....I burst out the door into the shop, and asked if they were gonna put a sticker on the rad. support for a tranny service...they said yup....I said Nope. Don't even....LOL
