a customer wanted my outfit to wax his truck so i sent my partner due to the fact i was already busy today, when he gets the the guy hands him an orange bottle of nu finish and tells him thats the only thing he ever puts on his vehicles and the only thing he ever wants put on.my partner isnt very good at the explanation part of the business or sales for that matter so he doesnt know what to tell this gentleman, i wouldve got hyped up and explained everything to this guy which might have resulted in loss of customer, my? is what do you all think is the best way of expaining the disadvantages and still keep the business.

You could always tell the customer that you only use the products you have because you know them and can guarantee the work and either refuse to use something else or just tell them you will not guarantee the work.

I agree, if that's what he wants then that's probably the only thing he's going to be happy with. I'd just give it to him and I'll bet you'll have a happy customer which is the point of professional detailing after all.

Same here. I certainly don't want to use NuFinish then have that guy bragging to others about my work and have those people wonder why I didn't bother removing any swirls.

lol exactly scott, not to mention the battle it would be to convince him that there are better ways of detailing his truck, keep in mind all he wanted was nu finish nothing else. i just wouldnt feel comfortable having my name anywhere near it.

Good points there. But why is Nu Finish crap?

Disclaimer: I don't use Nu Finish, I just want to be prepared if someone asks me.

That's really phunny! :rofl

There are plenty of products out there with superior longevity and don't scratch the hell out of a finely polished surface.

VaSuperShine,

Did your partner wax the truck using nu finish?

i didnt ask him in fear he says he did, hes really still learning how to use the pc so he doesnt do big jobs by himself, he normally tackles the interior while im working ext. i will ask him im hoping he says hell no of course not. i had another gentleman ask me to just wax his boat with starbrite, now i did have a little exp with it and its not all that bad but just knowing what i have is superior to that product i didnt do it, i didnt end up making him mad as he understood im only going to use what i have in my arsenal, as any of you would. i dont spend this kind of money to go use someones 20 year old bottle of nu finish that he got at the dollar tree. i imagine he felt a discount would be in order due to the fact it was his "beautifying" product being used. i just get tired of telling everyone in my area what a detail is, im a broken record but many have listened.

oh and starbrite is a polish i meant to say

he did, he went ahead and used it. well theres nothing I can do about it now, i just dont like running into ppl like the nu finish guy and not properly educating them, its kind of fun doing so.
