nice wash kit

Looks like a nice kit. Great product shot and you can use the bucket to store the stuff. For $90 you can get nicer products though.

:howdy

I have not heard great things about Griots, but I can't say from any personal experience. Chemical Guys has a nice looking starter kit as well, but again, no personal experience.

I've ofter thought that Troy or Steve should create a beginner's kit because it you start off getting all the basic stuff it can get really expensive and rather daunting for the beginner.

Start with something like this and add the shampoo, mitts and towels of your choice. You won't regret having a bucket that will hold your weight. Great for doing wheel wells, tires and rims. I think you can come in similarly priced with a better bucket/dolly set up.

5 Gallon Wash Bucket System with Dolly, car was bucket with dolly, complete car wash bucket, car wash

I've thought about getting that before, but the price always stops. I use a 5 gal bucket from Home Depot but alas, no wheels on it. I'm sure this is a darn good bucket and like you say, you can add the other things too it.

I agree 100%. I just had to buy all the beginnners stuff. I spent some time on forums to get a little educated. Blackyukons site helped tremendously. :bigups:bigups

I don't like buying something only to find out I just threw away money. I'll spend money on things that make sense. That super nice bucket did seem cool but I bought a 5 gal from Lowes for $8 thats nicer than the $19 one I got from AG. The AG one did have a grit guard though.

I can't honestly tell if the grit guard is doing its job. I only started using the 2 bucket method that works wonderfully. But the rinse bucket water is so dirty I can't see down to the bottom of the bucket. Seems to make sense though....heavier stuff sinks to bottom.

I prefer sheepskin wash mitts so the two MF mitts wouldn't do me any good. I have one of his WW drying towels from a few years ago and unless he changed suppliers it isn't really one of my favorites. If that bucket has a grit guard then it should be OK, but I just buy 5 gal buckets at Lowes or HD and toss a grit guard in them. I haven't used his Spray Wax so I can't comment on that. I have heard very good things about his car wash soap, but everytime I use Poorboy's S,S,&S I can't bring myself to switch.

If you want to save a few bucks then just buy a couple of 5 gallon buckets locally and then order the following stuff from DetailCity (and get 10% off):

The Grit Guard - Hose Nozzles & Foam Guns

Poorboy's World Super Slick & Suds Car Wash 32oz - Car Washing & Drying

Sheepskin Wash Mitt - Car Washing & Drying

The Guzzler Ultimate Drying Towel 20x40 - Specials & Closeouts

Poorboy's World Spray And Gloss 16oz - Spray Wax & Quick Detailers

Anyway, you get the idea. Griots has some nice stuff and I have used some of it, but they tend to be a bit pricey for what you get.

I bought one of those orange buckets at Home Depot and a grit guard fits perfectly inside.

Add the $10 for a Grit Guard to the $8 Lowe's bucket and the $19 AG combo is $17.10 after the DC 10% discount. It seems to be pretty competitive in price, but I can't comment of the quality or ergonomics of either one.
I always enjoyed browsing Griot's catalogs, but they always seemed a little pricey to me. :dunno:

That's expensive! You can definitely make your own kit for cheaper!

Those mitts rock! I have a few of my own and I love them! (other brand name but the basic design is the same!) Pssssttt... I bought a MF kit at Costco for 9.99.

You get:
2 - m/f Rasta mitts
2 - yellow m/f towels for buffing
1 - glass m/f towels
1 - yellow m/f mitt

The quality is quite decent. Just for the mitts it's worth it! Maybe you have that at a Costco near you!
