Newb with Festool RO150

Have been debating buying a DA polisher for our cars but wondered if a newb with decent wood skills can do correction and polishing with a RO150 in rotary mode?

Want to prep our cars for Opti-Coat.

I've never used one and am not really familiar with this tool but the ads I read said it weighs 11 lbs. Thinking this tool might be a bit heavy for automotive use.

Haven't weighed it but I think 11 lbs might be with the case and extras. Doesn't feel heavy at all in the hand and I've done lots of vertical surfaces with it for extended periods.

65chevy, what backing plates, pads, products have you narrowed your use to over the years?

I'm prepping 14 X1 and 10 Edge for Opti-Coat2. Was planning on using Optimum Polish and Compound II, starting with the polish to get the feel and then cut in areas that need it.

Their website says it weighs 5 pounds. I'm not sure how that relates to other polishers but it is a two-mode DA - forced rotation and random orbital. I think another manufacturer makes this same two mode but the name escapes me.

Everyone that owns a Festool polisher loves it, from what I've read. Most are using the rotary, but I have no problem thinking that their DA polishers wouldn't be great, as well.

Maybe this isn't the same festool I was looking at.
the one I want/wanted is both rotary and da/fro at the flip of a switch
