New to Detailing

I`m sure this is a common question. I`m new to detailing and I need a DA polisher. I only plan on detailing my Honda and my wife`s Prius. I`ve used the Meg`s poisher and of course it`s nice. Very easy etc. I`m on the fence. Some of my friends say the Griots $150 model is all I need. The price is right etc. I`m not rich so I can`t buy more than one machine so I want to make sure I buy the right one the first time.
thanks for any advice!

Hi, welcome to the addiction..... You don`t know it just yet though.

As far as polishers go, it`s more of a personal choice. You can get good results from a 100 polisher v a 5oo polisher. One may do the job faster and the comfort feel in you hands.

Get a used Rupes 15, thats by far the best bang for the buck. I recently let mine go for 225 shipped, sad to see it go but upgraded to the new one which is 400$... The rupes 15 or even the 21 are the best bangs for the buck used. They blow away anything in that price bracket.

If you`re just starting out and feeling unsure about using a DA polisher, another option to consider is taking your vehicles to a professional detailing company, at least for the first major correction. They can ensure the paint is properly corrected and protected. Once they’ve done the heavy lifting, you can maintain the finish with a lighter machine like the Griot’s DA polisher for routine touch-ups and upkeep. It’s a good balance if you’re hesitant about doing everything on your own from the start! Having worked for 6 years at AZ Auto Aesthetics, located in Mesa, I would recommend that.

So you brought up an 8 year old thread to promote your shop?

8 years old & of dubious value but bringing the old thread to light gave me a chance to ‘like’ Ronkh’s post! He’s up there somewhere looking down, smiling and swinging a couple of bottles of POLISHANGEL around
