New Brake Pads made the difference...

My 2000 Pontiac Trans Am has roughly 12,000 miles on it. It didn't really need new brake pads, but I just couldn't stand the brake dust anymore!!!

I would drive it 20 miles and I'd have to wipe down the chrome wheels to free them of brake dust!

I must admit, I'm pretty anal about brake dust!

I decided to upgrade to some new "low dusting" "Wagner Thermo-Quiet" brake pads from O'Reilly's.

Well........... so far, I've driven about 100+ miles without even a HINT of brake dust!

Cost was around $100 for front and rear, but well worth it to me !!:thumbup::thumbup::cool:

Great stopping power, no noise, no dust, plus a lifetime guarantee... hard to beat.:notworthy:

Bill, how are the new brakes working out for you? I've really got to change mine soon. My current pads are almost down to metal. :(

Excellent!!! I don't know how these pads can be engineered for no noise, no squeek, no dust and great braking!!! I would highly recommend the ThermoQuiet pads!

Since the car is all stock, I'll probably keep it that way.. (Very low mileage on the car... it will probably never need rotors! Only about 1500 miles per year... less now that I'm retired!)

Keep it stock. I got 125k out of my stock GM rotors on my truck, that is with towing pretty much every weekend in the winter.

I think all you guys should just bite the bullet and get a full set of carbon fiber pads and rotors.Great stopping no dust and with stand high temps.Just my 2 cents i have my brakes done at midas shops.

Man, I wish I could but the wife would skin me!! Maybe one day when I get my new dream car, the Cadillac CTS-V, I will. For now I think I'll just stick to ceramics. While I have the wheels off I think that I'll paint the rusted areas as well as the brake calipers. Does anyone know of a good paint that I could use?

I always use Dupli-Color High Temp Engine Paint. It's readily available at most auto parts stores. I just apply a light shot every time I rotate the tires.

Eastwood makes some of the best automotive paint products, if you don't mind ordering from their website, rather than running up to the auto parts store.
